A system is disclosed in which a wireless device is monitored and maintained over a network. One embodiment of the system comprises a wireless device including: a service to maintain data objects, provide messaging capability, and provide data access capability on behalf of a user of the wireless device; and a rules engine communicatively coupled to the service to execute a set of rules transmitted to the wireless device from a server, the set of rules to instruct the rules engine to gather information related to the wireless device and to take action on the wireless device based on the gathered information.

System and method for monitoring and maintaining a wireless device

A method and system thereof for dynamically configuring a device, adapted to be communicatively coupled in a wireless personal area network, with an attribute corresponding to a characteristic of the device. In one embodiment, the method involves receiving an attribute setting corresponding to characteristics of the device and implementing a corresponding configuration state. In this embodiment, the configuration state activates a corresponding device configuration. In one embodiment, the attribute setting constitutes a discretely variable value conforming to the degree of mobility of the device. In one embodiment, two attribute settings constitute discretely variable values conforming, one to the degree of mobility of the device, and the other to its location. In one embodiment, the device and network incorporate communicative capability compliant with the Bluetooth specification.

Method and system for personal area network (PAN) degrees of mobility-based configuration

A mobile configuration manager application is provided for managing network configuration parameters essential for the configuration of a computer for operable interaction in a local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN) environment. The network configuration parameters are partitioned into intuitive profiles that may be re-used in additional network configurations including LAN and WAN environments. The population of the profile parameters is facilitated by the application through the use of intuitive menus and windows with competed configurations being stored and selectively activated by a user without requiring subsequent parametric input by the user when selecting a different network environment. The transfer and exchange of network configuration parameters between different computers is also presented.
