Leads may be generated for content sponsors based on expressions of interest by users, the users being users of an online system. These leads typically require time or expense from a sponsor to follow up on the lead. The online system scores leads for sponsors to prioritize responding to the generated leads. The scores may include a purchase capacity score and a purchase intent score. The purchase capacity score estimates a user's ability to spend an amount specified by the sponsor for the product, and the purchase intent score estimates a user's likelihood to convert or be interested in the sponsor's product. The scores may be combined to provide a single lead quality score for a user that obscures the source of the online system's prediction to the sponsor.

Lead user quality score

A method is disclosed which includes: receiving, from a third-party content provider, a link to a structured document on an external server, where the link is associated with a post of the online social network by the third-party content provider, and retrieving the structured document from the external server, where the structured document includes content and input fields. This step is followed by extracting a predefined set of information from the structured document about the content and input fields of the structured document. The extracted set of information from the structured document are then evaluated to determine one or more feature-values of the structured document. A machine learning model is used to classify the structured document as an external lead-generation type page based on the one or more feature-values of the structured document and a notification is sent to the third-party content provider if the structured document is classified as an external lead-generation type page.

Classifying post types on online social networks

The disclosure includes a system and method for discovering content in a topical community. The system includes a processor and a memory storing instructions when executed cause the system to: receive data indicating a first engagement action associated with a content item, the first engagement action performed by a first user; determine a topic associated with the content item; determine a topical reputation score related to the topic for the first user based on one or more second engagement actions performed by one or more second users associated with the content item; determine that the topical reputation score satisfies a reputation threshold; unlock the topic for the first user responsive to the determination that the topical reputation score satisfies the reputation threshold and provide the first user an ability to curate other content items associated with the unlocked topic.
