The present disclosure describes apparatuses and methods of performance-based antenna selection for user devices. In some aspects, a user device includes a transceiver having a first receiver, as well as second and third receivers. The transceiver is coupled to a first antenna to enable communication via the first antenna and the second receiver is coupled to the second antenna to enable reception via the second antenna. The third receiver is coupled to a third antenna to enable monitoring of performance of the third antenna. Based on a comparison of respective performance of the first antenna and the third antenna, the first antenna or third antenna is coupled the transceiver to enable subsequent communication. By monitoring and comparing respective performance of the antennas before antenna switching is implemented, a better-performing antenna of the two antennas can be selected for coupling to the transceiver without impacting communication performance.

Performance-based antenna selection for user devices

Antenna switch diversity circuitry can include four switches. A first switch can be connectable to a first transmitter, a first receiver, and a second receiver. A second switch can be connectable to a second transmitter, a third receiver, and a fourth receiver. A third switch can be directly connected to the first switch, the second switch, a first antenna, and a second antenna. A fourth switch directly can be connected to the first switch, the second switch, a third antenna, and a fourth antenna. The first and second switches can be configured to be controlled by a control signal in a manner so as to prevent a signal from the first transmitter and a signal from the second transmitter from being conveyed through a same switch, which can reduce a production of an intermodulation distortion signal by the signal from the first transmitter and the signal from the second transmitter.

Antenna switch diversity circuitry

A modular device system is provided having a base portable electronic communication device. The base portable electronic communication device has a display side and a reverse side, and one or more antennas being located along one of the device edges. A ground element on the reverse side of the housing is adjacent to the antennas and is grounded to the chassis. A multi-pin connector array on the same side is located adjacent to the ground element and the ground element lies between the connector array and the antennas. The ground element is configured to contact a mating ground element on an add-on module when the module is mated to the base portable electronic communication device.

Modular device system desense reduction

A method and apparatus for remote data access in a mobile communication device. A voice call can be initiated between a first voice and data wireless device and a second voice and data wireless device. A data access request can be communicated between the first voice and data wireless device and the second voice and data wireless device. The voice call can be switched to a data call to establish a data access connection. Data can then be transferred between the first voice and data wireless device and the second voice and data wireless device.

Method and apparatus for remote data access in a mobile communication device

A method in an amplifier, for example, a power amplifier in a wireless transmitter, including monitoring () a characteristic of the amplifier during a first active interval of the first set of active intervals, storing () the amplifier characteristic monitored during the first active interval of the first set of active intervals, correcting () an open-loop control signal to the amplifier based on the stored amplifier characteristic monitored during the first active interval of the first set of active intervals, and providing () the corrected control signal during a second active interval of the set of first active intervals subsequent to the first active interval of the set of first active intervals.
