Disclosed herein is a computer-implemented method for punctuation of text from audio. The method includes obtaining an audio input comprising speech data; identifying a plurality of silent sections in the audio input; grouping the plurality of silent sections into a plurality of groups, where each group in the plurality of groups corresponds to a punctuation mark or a space without a punctuation mark; and associating each silent section in the plurality of silent sections with a punctuation mark or a space according to the grouping of the silent sections, thus obtaining punctuation information.

Computer implemented method and an apparatus for silence detection in speech recognition

In a method in association with a communication system a request for a connection is signaled between a user equipment and another party. The requested connection is then analyzed. Subsequent to detection that location information is required in association with the requested connection, a process for determining information about the location of the user equipment is activated. First information in association with the determining process is communicated on a control plane between the user equipment and the communication system, while second information in association with the determining process is communicated on a user plane between the user equipment and the communication system. An arrangement in association with location services and a user equipment capable of providing location information is also disclosed.

Providing location information

A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided that enable a method for providing location information to be selected based upon a determination, such as a minimization, of the consumption of location server resources that will be consumed by the method. The method, apparatus and computer program product may determine a selected location method from a set of location methods based on predetermined selection criteria. Specifically, the selected location method may be selected to meet a location accuracy requirement specified in a request for location information while consuming a determinable, such as a minimum, amount of resources. The predetermined selection criteria may be updated over time such that method, apparatus and computer program product are self-learning.

A method for establishing a media for communications in association with a location information service provided in association with a communication system is disclosed. In the method a user equipment is provided with information enabling the user equipment to communicate on a user plane connection with at least one location service entity when the user equipment is visiting a communication network other than a home network of the user equipment. This information may then be used for establishment of a user plane connection in the visited communication network between the user equipment and a location service entity.

Providing location information for user equipment in a visited network

Systems and methods of sending a secure user plane location (SUPL) session initiation message from a location platform to a SUPL-enabled terminal are provided. When a network-based application has an internet protocol (IP) connection with the SUPL-enabled terminal using general packet radio service (GPRS) and needs location information regarding the SUPL-enabled terminal, the network-based application indicates an available GPRS session in mobile location protocol standard location immediate request. The location platform uses an application server hosting the network-based application to request starting a SUPL-enabled terminal-initiated location procedure. Alternatively, the location platform can determine whether a SUPL-enabled terminal has an active IP connection from an authentication, authorization, and accounting server. The IP address of the SUPL-enabled terminal is returned to the location platform, upon which a SUPL session initiation message is sent to an associated GPRS Gateway Support Node. User Datagram Protocol is utilized instead of Wireless Datagram Protocol.

Secure user plane location session initiation improvement

The present invention relates to selection of sites of a communication system for measurement units that are for measuring a feature of wireless signals so that the location of a wireless station may be determined based on the measurement. Each measurement unit provides a measurement coverage. In the method a first set of information is defined, said first set relating to sites that are possible locations for the location measurement units and to the coverage provided by the site if it is provided with a measurement unit. A second set of information is defined that relates to signalling environment within the sites. Based on the defined first and second sets of information, a third set of information is defined, said third set associating each site with access entities of the communication system. Based on the third set of information, appropriate sites can be selected for the location measurement units.

Provision of location service apparatus

The invention proposes a method for locating a network element, comprising the steps of obtaining (S) the coordinates (xS, yS) of a second network element (BTS) to which the first network element (MS) is connected or attached; detecting (S) a serving area (S), which is served by the second network element (BTS); detecting (S) a propagation delay of the first network element with respect to the second network element (BTS); determining (S) a propagation delay depending area (C), which is an area having a distance to the second network element (BTS) based on the propagation delay and a width based on the propagation delay; and forming (S) an intersection area (I) of the serving area (S) and the propagation delay depending area (C); wherein a location estimate of the first network element (MS) is determined (S) from the intersection area (I). Thus, an uncertainty area where a first network element is located can be reduced and the location accuracy can be improved.

User positioning

A method of providing information regarding the location of a mobile user equipment () in a system wherein the location is determined based on information signalled from entities () of a positioning system and assistance data signalled from a station () of a communication system. In the method the likely location of the mobile user equipment relative to the station is first determined. Based on the determined likely location, an estimate of the delay in transmitting a signal from the station to the mobile user equipment is estimated. Assistance data is then signalled from the station to the mobile user equipment, said assistance data comprising information about the timing of the positioning system. A more accurate location determination is accomplished at the user equipment based on signals from the entities of the positioning system, the assistance data and said estimated delay.

Method and a system for detecting communication relaying network elements

A method for providing time information comprises sending time information to at least one communications device and receiving information indicating error in received time information from at least one of said at least one communications device, said error in received time information having been determined in a communications device. In a communications device, first time information from a communications system is received and second time information with respect to an external time frame is determined. A telecommunications system comprises a first transmitter unit situated at a first, known location; a second transmitter unit situated at a second, unknown location; a first receiving unit at a third, known location arranged to receive signals from the first and second transmitter units; and a second receiving unit at a fourth, known location arranged to receive signals from the first and second transmitter units, wherein the said signals received by the first and second receiving units are usable to ascertain the location of the second transmitter unit.
