A device for the suction filtration of fluids, such as urea solutions for exhaust gas after-treatment systems, has a tank () storing the fluid, and a filter element () arranged in the tank and provided with a filter medium () separating the tank contents from a clean-side inner filter cavity (). The filter cavity extends from the bottom () of the tank () to a filling level height () and corresponds to a part of the filling volume of the tank (). On the filter cavity (), a suction connection () discharges the cleaned fluid by a suction pressure corresponding to a system operating pressure. The filter element () is provided with a filter medium (), which is air-impermeable if suction pressures are within the range of a low system operating pressure.

Device for the suction filtration of fluids

A process separates out and removes water present in liquid fuels. The fuel supplies an internal combustion engine by a fuel delivery pump (). Water is separated out at a filter () having a collecting space () for collecting separated water and connected upstream of the suction side () of the fuel delivery pump (). The pump suction action counteracts outflow of water from the collecting space (). Depending on the amount of water collected, the pump suction action is negated, and an outlet valve at an outflow orifice () of the collecting space () is opened by a discharge () producing a pressure gradient enabling the discharge of water from the collecting space () over a discharge period when the fuel delivery pump () is operating.

A fluid cooling device has at least one heat exchanger device () for cooling at least one fluid and has at least one filter device () also for filtering the fluid conducted to a hydraulic device (). The device has a follow-up suction device () that, if required, conducts fluid to the suction side of the hydraulic device fluid cooling ().

A filter device has a filter housing (), at least one filter element () received in the filter housing () and an inner fluid space () limited by a filter medium () through which the fluid to be cleaned can flow. The filter medium separates the inner fluid space () from an exterior fluid space () located in the filter housing (). The filter housing () has a fluid inlet () and a fluid outlet for cleaned fluid. A fluid guide device () is connected downstream to the fluid inlet () and can be optionally retrofitted to form a flow path between the fluid inlet () and the exterior fluid space () or between the fluid inlet () and the inner fluid space () disposed in the filter element ().

Filter element

A filter device, especially a line filter forming part of hydraulic installations, includes a filter housing () that can be removed from a filter head and is used to receive a filter element () that separates a non-filtered side () from a filtered side () in a position in the filter housing for the operation of the filter. The filter device is provided with a display device () signaling the absence or presence of the filter element () in the filter housing () in the operating position.
