A microphone arrangement comprises a microphone comprising a microphone element, a housing and a cover, the housing and the cover cooperating with one another to surround the microphone element, and the cover comprising a first opening in order to enable the respective microphone element to detect sound. The microphone arrangement further comprises a frame defining an internal volume and comprising a third opening, and a motor configured to move the microphone from a first position to a second position and from the second position to the first position. When the microphone is in the first position, the first opening is arranged on a first side of the third opening and within the internal volume defined by the frame, and, when the microphone is in the second position, the first opening is arranged on a second side of the third opening and outside of the internal volume defined by the frame.

The microphone assembly includes a microphone element mounted on a circuit board within a housing. The microphone element is aligned with the air path such that the air path directs sound from the cabin to the microphone element. A vehicle cabin side of the headliner is covered by an acoustically transparent layer such that the microphone assembly is not visible within the vehicle cabin.

Invisible headliner microphone

A microphone assembly for a vehicle headliner includes a housing arranged to be received within a substrate layer of the headliner and having an upper portion and a lower portion. A circuit board is mounted in the upper portion and has a microphone element coupled thereto. An insert bracket includes a base and a shaft member extending upwardly therefrom, the base having a plurality of apertures aligned with the shaft member, wherein the shaft member engages the lower portion to connect the insert bracket to the housing. A sealing gasket having at least one channel defining an air path extending therethrough is arranged to be received within the shaft member and extend between the base and the upper portion, providing acoustic sealing between the insert bracket and the housing such that the air path directs sound from a cabin of the vehicle through the apertures to the microphone element.

Invisible microphone assembly for a vehicle

A microphone apparatus for attachment to an exterior portion of a vehicle, the apparatus may include a housing maintaining a printed circuit board (PCB) and a microphone element positioned on the PCB, a sealing element arranged on one side of the housing and defining at least one housing opening, and a cover extending over the sealing element and defining a cover opening configured to align in an open state with the housing opening to enable ambient sound external to the vehicle to be transmitted to the microphone element, the cover configured to block the housing opening in a closed state to protect the microphone element.

External microphone active ingress protection

In at least one embodiment, a microphone apparatus for attachment to an exterior portion of a vehicle is provided. The apparatus includes a printed circuit board (PCB), a microphone element, a cover, and a grille cover. The microphone element is positioned on the PCB. The cover extends over the printed circuit board and defines a first opening to enable ambient sound external to the vehicle to be transmitted to the microphone element. The grille cover is positioned on the exterior portion of the vehicle defining a plurality of openings for directly receiving the ambient sound and for transmitting the ambient sound to the first opening of the cover and to the microphone element.

Water and dustproof external microphone apparatus

A microphone assembly includes a printed circuit board that defines a tab that is configured to extend into an opening defined by a substrate layer of a headliner. The microphone assembly includes a microphone element mounted on the tab. The microphone assembly includes a sealing element that surrounds the tab and the microphone element and is configured to fill the opening and define an air path from a cabin side of the substrate layer to the printed circuit board or the microphone element.
