A method includes separating, using a separation component, a plurality of input streams into a plurality of audio streams having different bitrates and a plurality of video streams having different bitrates; transcoding, using an audio transcoder, the plurality of audio streams into a plurality of transcoded audio streams having different transcode qualities; transcoding, using a video transcoder, the plurality of video streams into a plurality of transcoded video streams having different transcode qualities; segmenting, using a segmentation component, the plurality of audio streams into a plurality of equivalent audio segments based on identified segment boundaries associated with the plurality transcoded audio streams and the plurality of video streams into a plurality of equivalent video segments based on identified segment boundaries associated with the plurality of transcoded video streams; and joining, using a conjoining component, the plurality of equivalent audio segments and the plurality of video segments into a single stream.

Scalable, live transcoding with support for adaptive streaming and failover

A system and method for a live streaming platform that can redundantly process input streams in parallel ingestion pipelines is disclosed herein. Ingested input streams in the parallel pipelines can be segmented using a segmentation function that creates identical segments in each of the streams in the pipelines. If errors occur, or there are disruptions in one or more of the input streams or pipelines, the live streaming platform can ensure that segments are identifiable and different parts of the pipelines can join a main stream at different points in time without disruption.

A system and method provides transcoding a video in parallel by multiple transcoders based on a measure of video coding complexity (VCC). The system has a video pre-processing module, a master transcoder, a transcoding controller and multiple transcoders. The video pre-processing module transcodes a source video into an intermediate video. The master transcoder partitions the intermediate video into multiple transcoding units, where a transcoding unit identifies a portion of data of the intermediate video for transcoding. The master transcoder further generates a transcoding request for each transcoding unit. The transcoding controller distributes the transcoding units to the multiple transcoders, which transcode the data of the transcoding units in parallel into transcoded data.

Parallel video transcoding

An adaptive resolution transcoding system and method adaptively transcodes a source video with an optimized resolution and visual quality based on the video coding complexity (VCC) of the source video. The transcoding system is configured to receive a source video in its native format, and to obtain the video coding complexity score of the source video from a video coding complexity engine. The transcoding system is further configured to set a resolution adjustment level based on the complexity score. Based on the resolution adjustment level, the transcoding system determines an optimal output resolution for the source video for each video output format supported by the transcoding system. Responsive to a user selection of video output format, the transcoding system determines an optimal output resolution for the source video and encodes the source video with the determined optimal output resolution.

Adaptive resolution transcoding for optimal visual quality

Systems and methods can facilitate identifying 2D content in media that is suitable for conversion into 3D content, and converting the suitable 2D content into 3D content. The identifying can be based on quality criteria applied to the 2D content. For 2D content converted into 3D content, a user can be offered a choice between viewing the content in its original 2D form, or viewing the content in its converted, 3D form. The systems and methods can thereby provide users with greater choice of content and an enhanced viewing experience.

Systems and methods for 2D-to-3D conversion

A system and method for a live streaming platform that can redundantly process input streams in parallel ingestion pipelines is disclosed herein. Ingested input streams in the parallel pipelines can be segmented using a stable segmentation function that creates identical segments in each of the streams in the pipelines. If errors occur, or there are disruptions in one or more of the input streams or pipelines, the live streaming platform can switch between the input streams on a per segment basis to provide reliable streaming feeds to a content distribution network. A master stream can be constructed from each of the master segments per a time period based on a reliability of each of the input streams and segments. Practicing pipeline affinity by selecting subsequent master segments from the same pipeline can minimize glitches.

Scalable robust live streaming system

A method including receiving an input media stream and splitting a video portion of a received portion of the input media stream into input video chunks. For each input video chunk of the video portion of the input media stream, the method includes assigning the input video chunk to one or more slave transcoders, splitting the input video chunk into video subchunks, and separately feeding each input video subchunk to each of the one or more slave transcoders. The method includes separately receiving output video subchunks from the one or more slave transcoders. Each output video subchunk respectively corresponds to one of the input video subchunks. The method also includes assembling the output video subchunks into an output video chunk corresponding to the input video chunk and assembling the output video chunks into an output media stream.

Transcoding media streams using subchunking

A method including receiving an input media stream and splitting a video portion of a received portion of the input media stream into input video chunks, while receiving a remaining portion of the input media stream. For each input video chunk of the video portion of the input media stream, the method includes assigning the input video chunk to one or more slave transcoders, splitting the input video chunk into video subchunks, and separately feeding each input video subchunk to each of the one or more slave transcoders. The method includes separately receiving output video subchunks from the one or more slave transcoders. Each output video subchunk respectively corresponds to one of the input video subchunks. The method also includes assembling the output video subchunks into an output video chunk corresponding to the input video chunk and assembling the output video chunks into an output media stream.

A method for enabling visual browsing of a plurality videos includes identifying a low frame rate version for each video from a plurality of videos using one or more computers, wherein the low frame rate version of each video from the plurality of videos is at a frame rate that provides a visually perceptible pause between successive visually distinct frames; and outputting information that defines a visual display, wherein the visual display presents a plurality of graphical representations each corresponding to a respective video from the plurality of videos, wherein each graphical representation from the plurality of graphical representations includes the low frame rate version of the respective video from the plurality of videos.

Visually browsing videos

A system and method provides content-adaptive bitrate video transcoding of a source video for a video hosting service. The system is coupled to a video coding complexity engine and video rate-distortion modeling engine of the video hosting service. The system is configured to receive the video coding complexity score of the source video and a trained rate-distortion model and a scaling model. A target bitrate estimation module of the system is configured to calculate an initial target bitrate based on the video coding complexity using the trained rate-distortion model. A bitrate refinement module of the system is configured to adjust the initial target bitrate with respect to the resolution and/or frame rate of the transcoded source video. An adaptive video coder of the system is configured to transcode the source video with the adjusted target bitrate.

Bitrate video transcoding based on video coding complexity estimation

A system for providing video processing feedback to content providers uploading a video file. As the content provider uploads a video file to the video processing server, the server processes the uploading file and extracts representative video frames from the video file. The video processing server embeds the representative frames into a processing feedback page hosted on a web server in the video processing server. Each representative frame in the feedback page represents a part of the uploading video. The feedback page is accessible through the content provider's browser and the feedback page includes a sequence of representative frames in temporal order. In one embodiment, the representative frames in the feedback page are colored or shaded to indicate whether the video part represented by a particular frame has been processed.
