A method of detecting an obtruding signal in a radio receiver, a receiver and a computer program are disclosed. The receiver has a mixer arranged to mix a received signal to an analog baseband signal at or close to zero-frequency, a filter arranged to low-pass filter said analog baseband signal, and an analog-to-digital converter arranged to sample said filtered analog baseband signal at a sample frequency such that a digital baseband signal is formed. The method comprised receiving a radio frequency signal, mixing the radio frequency signal to the analog baseband signal at or close to zero-frequency, low-pass filtering said analog baseband signal, and analog-to-digital converting said filtered analog baseband signal at an over sample frequency such that a digital baseband signal is formed. The method further comprises frequency translating the digital baseband signal around a Nyquist frequency being based on a nominal sample frequency, the nominal sample frequency being a fraction of the oversampling frequency according to the oversampling rate, to form a translated digital baseband signal such that signal content of the digital baseband signal around zero frequency will be translated to around the nominal sample frequency and vice versa in the translated digital baseband signal, determining a first signal level at zero frequency of the digital baseband signal and a second signal level at zero frequency of the translated digital baseband signal, detecting an obtruding signal based on a relation between the first and second signal levels, and outputting an obtruding signal state signal.

A circuit arrangement includes a channel estimation circuit configured to acquire a channel estimate including a plurality of channel samples based on a range of time and frequency locations of a received signal, a first calculation circuit configured to calculate a first time and frequency correlation product of the channel estimate and a second calculation circuit configured to calculate a second time and frequency correlation product of the channel estimate, a time offset circuit configured to determine a time offset based on the first time and frequency correlation product and the second time and frequency correlation product, and a frequency offset circuit configured to determine a frequency offset based on the first time and frequency correlation product and the second time and frequency correlation product.

Methods and devices for time and frequency offset estimation

A method is provided of a wireless communication device operating in connection with a cellular communication system providing a serving cell and one or more interfering cells. A signal is received comprising symbols of the serving cell transmitted in a downlink channel and symbols of the one or more interfering cells and a first function of a signal-to-interference ratio of the received signal is calculated. One or more of the interfering cells are selected as dominant interfering cells based on a respective average power of reference symbols of the one or more interfering cells in the received signal, an average power of demodulated symbols of the serving cell in the received signal and a respective average power of demodulated symbols of each of the dominant interfering cells in the received signal are determined. A metric value is calculated based on the average power of demodulated symbols of the serving cell and on the respective average power of demodulated symbols of each of the dominant interfering cells, a channel condition indication is determined based on the metric value and the first function of the signal-to-interference ratio of the received signal, and the channel condition indication is transmitted to the cellular communication system, thereby providing downlink channel condition information to a network node. A method of creating a look-up table for mapping the first function and the metric value to the channel condition indication is also disclosed along with computer program products, arrangements and wireless communication devices corresponding to the methods.
