A load balancing method is disclosed, the method includes establishing a processing network including a plurality of task-processing processors interconnected therewith, each processor of the plurality having a queue of tasks to be processed, establishing a k-regular graph including nodes and branches connecting the nodes, where k is the degree of the graph, assigning d walkers to the k-regular graph, where each walker is randomly assigned to a node, receiving a new task to be processed, walking from the assigned nodes to new nodes by randomly choosing a new node from one or more available nodes, without backtracking from each of the assigned nodes to a node from which each of the d walkers immediately walked, comparing the queues of the new nodes, determining which queue of the new nodes has the least number of tasks; and assigning the new task to the node with the least number of tasks.

A method of treating a metal substrate by applying a first coating treatment solution of 0.1% by volume of at least one silane, wherein the silane consists only of a multi-functional silane having at least two trisubstituted silyl groups, wherein the substituents are individually chosen from the group consisting of alkoxy and acetoxy, and wherein the multi-functional silane has been at least partially hydrolyzed and wherein the first coating treatment solution has a pH of less than about 7.

Method of preventing corrosion of metals using silanes

A method of preventing corrosion of metals using bis-functional polysulfur silanes. The method includes providing a metal surface, and applying a treatment solution onto the metal surface. The treatment solution includes at least one hydrolyzed bis-functional polysulfur silane of the formula: ##STR1## wherein each R is an alkyl or an acetyl group, and Z is either --S.sub.x or --Q--S.sub.x --Q--, wherein each Q is an aliphatic or aromatic group, and x is an integer of from 2 to 9. A treatment solution and metal surface having improved corrosion resistance are also provided.

Corrosion prevention of metals using bis-functional polysulfur silanes

A method of preventing corrosion of metals using silanes. The method comprises applying a first treatment solution directly onto the surface of the metal, wherein the first treatment solution contains at least one multi-functional silane having at least two trisubstituted silyl groups, and wherein the substituents are individually chosen from the group consisting of alkoxy and acetoxy. An optional second treatment solution containing an organofunctional silane may also be employed, particularly if the metal is to be painted.
