A sensor system for detecting a property of or within an absorbent article may comprise an absorbent article and a sensor. The absorbent article may comprise a garment-facing layer and an absorbent assembly. The sensor may be disposed in or on the absorbent article. The sensor may be separable from the absorbent article. A portion of the sensor may have a first dimension and a second dimension, wherein the first dimension is at least 1 inch and the second dimension is at least 2 inches. The sensor may be configured to sense a change in condition within the absorbent article.

Sensor systems comprising anti-choking features

The present invention is directed to a disposable absorbent article. The disposable absorbent article of the present invention includes: a topsheet, a backsheet combined with the topsheet, a fluid storage layer disposed between the topsheet and backsheet and having a body-facing surface and a garment-facing surface opposing the body-facing surface. The disposable absorbent article further includes an odor/antimicrobial reduction layer disposed either between the topsheet and the fluid storage layer or between the backsheet and the fluid storage layer. The odor/antimicrobial reduction layer contains an odor/antimicrobial material. The odor/antimicrobial reduction layer has a predetermined pattern of the odor/antimicrobial material.

The present invention is directed to a disposable absorbent article. The disposable absorbent article of the present invention includes a fluid storage layer disposed between the topsheet and backsheet and having a body-facing surface and a garment-facing surface opposing the body-facing surface. The fluid storage layer contains a superabsorbent material. The disposable absorbent article further includes an odor reduction layer disposed at either the body-facing surface side or the body-facing surface side of the fluid storage layer. The odor reduction layer contains a metalphthalocyanine material. The disposable absorbent article further includes an isolation means disposed between the superabsorbent material and the odor reduction layer for isolating the metalphthalocyanine material from contacting at least a part of the superabsorbent material.

A disposable absorbent garment having an elastic waist panel that includes one or more localized retention zones for retention the garment in its initial, as-applied position on the body of a wearer. The retention zones includes materials that have a higher coefficient of static friction than does the major surface area that constitutes the inner, body-facing surface of the garment. The garment can also include localized areas having a lower coefficient of static friction than that of the major inner surface area of the garment to facilitate placement of the garment in a desired wearing position. Such lower coefficient of static friction areas can include the areas adjacent the leg openings and the area of the waistband that overlies the stomach of the wearer. Additionally, the garment can also include within the waistband, as well as within the side, hip engaging panels of the garment, areas wherein the coefficient of static friction varies from high to low to provide improved retention and comfort over a wide range of wearing conditions and a wide range of movements of the wearer.
