One method includes receiving transmission packets in the local buffer of the modem of the wireless device for wireless transmission to a receiving device, purging a transmission packet from the local buffer after receiving an acknowledgement of reception of the transmission packet from the receiving device, and requesting acknowledgement from the receiving device when a queue of the transmission packets within the local buffer exceeds a threshold level, wherein a time delay is introduced before the requesting of the acknowledgement, wherein the time delay is based at least on a propagation delay of the wireless transmission between the wireless device and the receiving device.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems for operating a wireless satellite service are disclosed. One method includes maintaining, by a satellite service server, a database of an activation status of each of a plurality of subscriber devices as provided by a plurality of terrestrial service providers, receiving, by a satellite network, a request from a wireless device to access the wireless satellite service through a satellite link, wherein the satellite network is electronically connected to the satellite service server, querying, by the satellite network, the satellite service server to confirm whether the wireless device requesting access to the wireless satellite service is a subscriber device that is activated, providing, by the satellite service server, the activation status of the wireless device to the satellite network, and performing, by the satellite network, a wireless device attachment process with a one of the plurality terrestrial service providers based upon the activation status.

One method includes adaptively reserving, by a base station of a satellite network, reserved PRACH (physical random access channel) preambles for a plurality of reserved services, broadcasting, by the base station, the configuration, wherein a wireless device receives the reserved PRACH preambles configuration, wherein the wireless device selects a reserved service from the plurality of reserved services and transmits a PRACH preamble from the reserved preambles, and transmitting, by the base station, a message grant to the wireless device in response to the PRACH preamble, wherein the wireless device transmits to the base station a response that includes the selected reserved service from the plurality of reserved services in response to the message grant from the base station.

Managing satellite network demand for emergency services

Apparatuses, methods, and systems of hub communication with a satellite network or a terrestrial network are disclosed. One method includes determining a propagation delay between a wireless communication device and a base station of a satellite network, adjusting, by the wireless communication device, a timing offset between transmit and receive radio frames at the wireless communication device based on whether the satellite network or a terrestrial network is selected, and based at least on the propagation delay, configuring air interface communication protocol timer values including at least a wait time for a response based on at least a frame offset between uplink and downlink frames at the base station of the satellite network, and communicating, by the wireless communication device, with the base station of the satellite network when the satellite network is selected, and with a base station of the terrestrial network when the terrestrial network is selected.

One method includes receiving, by a controller, a data demand of a terrestrial network of a terrestrial base station and a data demand of a satellite network of a satellite base station, generating a communication schedule which contains terrestrial resource block suppression information and satellite resource block suppression information, wherein the terrestrial resource block suppression information indicates time and frequency blocks of the communication schedule that the terrestrial base station is to suppress wireless communications, and the satellite resource block suppression information indicates time and frequency blocks of the communication schedule that the satellite base station is to suppress wireless communications, allocating, by the terrestrial base station, resources based on the terrestrial resource block suppression information, and allocating, by the satellite base station, resources based on the satellite resource block suppression information.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems for connecting a wireless device across multiple wireless networks are disclosed. One system includes a state machine and a router. The state machine operates to maintain a network availability of each of a plurality of wireless networks for a wireless device, wherein each of the plurality of wireless networks include network characteristics. The router operates to select a one of the plurality of wireless networks based on the network availability and the network characteristics as maintained by the state machine, process data packets according to the selected available wireless network based on the network characteristics of the selected available wireless network, and route the processed data packets to the wireless device through the selected one of the plurality of wireless networks.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems of hub communication with a satellite network or a terrestrial network are disclosed. One method includes detecting presence of the satellite network, detecting, by the hub, presence of a terrestrial network, selecting to connect to one of the satellite network or the terrestrial network based on a priority ruleset, estimating a propagation delay between the hub and a base station of the satellite network when the satellite network is selected, adjusting a timing offset between transmit and receive radio frames at the hub based on whether the satellite network or the terrestrial network is selected, and based at least on the propagation delay, and communicating with the base station of the satellite network or a base station of the terrestrial network.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems for coordinated satellite and terrestrial channel utilization, are disclosed. One wireless system includes one or more controllers. For an embodiment, the one or more controllers are operative to (or configured to) determine one or more communication delays for each base station of a plurality of base stations based upon a maximum propagation delay between each base station and one or more of a plurality of hubs, generate a channel sharing map that includes a timing of communication between each base station and the one or more of the plurality of hubs, wherein each of the plurality of base stations operates to time wireless communication with the plurality of hubs based on the channel sharing map, and the one or more communication delays of the base station.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems for coordinated access to a wireless link through data profiles are disclosed. One method includes receiving through the wireless link, by each hub associated with a base station, one or more data profiles from a network management element, receiving, by each hub, data from data sources associated with the hub, controlling, by each hub, a timing of communication of the data for each of the data sources from the hub to the base station through the wireless link based on the one or more data profiles, allocating preamble codes to each of the data sources, wherein different preamble codes are allocated to different data sources of different hubs that report within a margin of time of each other, and including the allocated preamble codes with the data of each of the data sources.

One system includes a base station, a satellite, a beam management controller, and a plurality of wireless devices. The base station is configured to wirelessly communicate according to a schedule between the base station and each of the plurality of wireless devices within a scheduling frame. The satellite is operative to form a plurality of beams between the satellite and the wireless devices and support a wireless satellite link between the base station and the wireless devices through the plurality of beams. The beam management controller is operative to assign beam allocations for the scheduled wireless communication between each of the wireless devices and the base station that is time aligned with the scheduling frame, wherein each of the beam allocations includes an assignment to at least one of the plurality of beams.
