An interrogation device, for locating a wireless device, includes a receiver and digital processing circuitry. The receiver includes one or more receiver stages having adjustable gains, and is configured to receive from the wireless device a signal that carries a packet including a direction-finding field, wherein, during reception of the direction-finding field, multiple different temporal sections of the received signal traverse different wireless channels due to switching among different antennas in the interrogation device or in the wireless device and thus have multiple different received-signal levels. The digital processing circuitry is configured, based on the multiple received temporal sections of the signal during reception of the direction-finding field, to (i) adapt the adjustable gains of the receiver stages and (ii) estimate a position of the wireless device.

Adaptive gain control for indoor positioning

A wireless local area network (WLAN) system includes a plurality of access points and a WLAN server. Each access point includes a wireless transceiver, which transmits and receives data packets to and from client stations (STAs) in the WLAN system, and is connected to a wired local area network (LAN). First encapsulation logic in the access point encapsulates the data packets received by the wireless transceiver, including the MAC headers and payloads, in data frames and transmits the data frames over the LAN. The WLAN server receives the data frames transmitted over the wired LAN from the access points. Second encapsulation logic in the WLAN server decapsulates the received data packets from the received data frames. A MAC processor in the WLAN server applies MAC processing functions to the MAC headers and payloads of the decapsulated data packets.

WLAN with distributed access point functionality

A receiver device generates a bit stream corresponding to a received signal at least by demodulating the received signal. The received signal includes an address that was encoded at a transmitter device using a forward error correction code. The receiver device correlates the bit stream with an encoded known address to generate a correlation output that indicates a degree of similarity between a segment of the bit stream and the encoded known address. The encoded known address corresponds to a known device address that was encoded using the error correction code. The receiver device determines when the correlation output is greater than a threshold that corresponds to a particular degree of similarity with the encoded known address. The receiver device determines that the bit stream includes the known device address when the receiver device determines that the correlation output is greater than the threshold.

Correlation-based detection of encoded address in packet

The present disclosure describes methods and apparatuses for phase-based cyclic redundancy check (CRC) verification for wireless communication. In some aspects, a soft phase value and a sliced phase value are received for a symbol of a data packet, the data packet received via a wireless interface. An error measurement is determined for the symbol based on the soft phase value and the sliced phase value. The error measurement for the symbol is then compared to an error measurement threshold for detecting symbol-level errors in the data packet. Based on the error measurement exceeding an error measurement threshold, a bit error can be detected in the data packet, which may have passed CRC. By detecting the bit error despite a CRC pass, the bit error can be indicated to higher-level entity of the wireless interface. This can be effective to prevent the bit error from impairing operation of the higher-level entity.

Phase-based cyclic redundancy check verification for wireless communication

A device includes a frequency offset (FO) compensation circuit coupled with a decoder, and a soft information measurement circuit. The frequency offset compensation circuit is configured to: (i) receive a continuous phase modulation (CPM) signal, (ii) adjust the CPM signal in a sampling window based on a frequency offset compensation value, and (iii) provide the adjusted CPM signal to the decoder. The decoder is configured to: (i) receive the adjusted CPM signal generated by the FO compensation circuit, (ii) decode the adjusted CPM signal to obtain one or more information symbols associated with the CPM signal, (iii) provide the one or more information symbols for soft information generation; and (iv) receive soft information provided by the soft information measurement circuit.

Soft information measurement in bluetooth long range

Embodiments described herein provide a method for carrier frequency offset and frequency drift cancellation based indoor position estimation. A wireless signal including a plurality of data samples is received at a receiving antenna and from a mobile device. Information relating to an antenna switching pattern for transmitting or receiving the wireless signal may then be obtained from the wireless signal. A phase difference is calculated associated with each data sample of plurality of data samples. Carrier frequency offset and frequency drift cancellation may be applied to the phase difference to obtain a compensated phase difference. A direction estimate of the mobile device may then be generated based at least in part on the compensated phase difference.
