Polar transmitter calibration Various embodiments relate to a transmit and receive system using polar modulation, including: a transmitter configured to produce a transmit signal using modulation; a receiver configured to receive a transmit signal using in-phase/quadrature (IQ) processing; a Tx/Rx switch configured to loop a transmitted signal from the transmitter back to the receiver for calibration; and a controller configured to: command the transmitter to generate a real signal; command the Tx/Rx switch to loop the real signal back to the receiver to produce a first received signal; command the transmitter to generate an imaginary signal; command the Tx/Rx switch to loop the imaginary signal back to the receiver to produce a second received signal; determine a compensation parameter based on the first received signal and the second received signal; and command the receiver to compensate a third received signal based upon the compensation parameter.

A transmit apparatus comprising a scaler arranged to scale a frequency deviation signal associated with a frequency shift keying signal (FSK) by a scale factor and a limiter arranged to limit frequency deviations of the scaled frequency deviation signal after a filtering. A power spectral density, phase trajectory, and frequency deviation of an FSK signal based on the limited scaled frequency deviation tracks similar criteria of a minimum phase shift keying (MSK) signal.

A multi-radio system comprises a first radio and a second radio co-located on the multi-radio system. The first radio is arranged to generate an RF transmit signal which is output by a first antenna of the first radio. In an example, the first radio comprises a radio frequency (RF) canceller arranged to output a RF cancellation signal which couples with the RF transmit signal received at a second antenna of the second radio. The RF cancellation signal that is output results in the cancellation of the RF transmit signal at the second antenna of the second radio.

Interference cancellation in a multi-radio system and apparatus for cancellation

A communication device receives a physical layer (PHY) data unit having a PHY preamble with a non-legacy signal field. The non-legacy signal field includes a multi-bit signal field header that occupies a beginning portion of the non-legacy signal field. A plurality of available values of the multi-bit signal field header includes i) at least one available value corresponding to a wireless communication protocol, and ii) multiple other available values reserved for at least one of i) at least one future version of the wireless communication protocol, and ii) at least one future wireless communication protocol. The multi-bit signal field header indicates a field format of other subfields of the non-legacy signal field that follow the multi-bit signal field header. The communication device processes the beginning portion of the non-legacy signal field to determine a field format of the other subfields of the non-legacy signal field.

Physical layer preamble for wireless local area networks

A wireless network includes a client device and an access point (AP). The client device generates a data packet having a physical layer protocol data unit frame format. The client device transmits the data packet to the AP such that a plurality of long training fields (LTFs) of the data packet is transmitted at higher power as compared to a data field of the data packet, and a preamble portion of the data packet is transmitted at higher power as compared to the plurality of LTFs. Further, the data field includes various resource units (RUs) and one such RU is utilized for data transmission between the client device and the AP. The transmission of the data packet from the client device to the AP in the aforementioned manner results in the range extension of the wireless network.

System and method for range extension of wireless networks

A first communication device in a first WLAN determines a channel estimate of a communication channel between the first communication device and a second communication device in a second WLAN using measurements at the first communication device of a first transmission between the second communication device and a third communication device in the second WLAN. The first communication device generates a PPDU for transmission to a fourth communication device in the first WLAN, including: determining, using the channel estimate, a precoder matrix to use for transmitting the PPDU in the first WLAN, and generating the PPDU using the precoder matrix so that interference at the second communication device in the second WLAN caused by transmission of the PPDU by the first communication device in the first WLAN is reduced. The first communication device transmits the PPDU to the fourth communication device in the first WLAN as a directional second transmission.

Physical layer protocol data unit directional transmission

A communication device generates a legacy portion of a physical layer (PHY) preamble of a PHY data unit. The legacy portion includes a plurality of legacy training fields and a legacy signal field that indicates a duration of the PHY data unit. The communication device generates a non-legacy portion of the PHY preamble to include a multi-bit signal field header to indicate at least one of i) a particular wireless communication protocol from among the multiple wireless communication protocols, and ii) a particular version of the particular wireless communication protocol. The communication device generates the non-legacy portion of the PHY preamble to also include a non-legacy signal field having a field format that conforms to the at least one of the i) particular wireless communication protocol and ii) the particular version of the particular wireless communication protocol.

A method, system, and apparatus for applying dithering to waveforms in a transmitter such as a Bluetooth transmitter. A current waveform corresponding to a current bit of a bitstream is received where the current waveform has a nominal frequency deviation defined by a value of the current bit. Based on the determination that the current waveform and an immediately previous bit of the bitstream are associated with different bit values, a first dithered signal is output which is defined by a first frequency offset pseudorandomly selected from a first set of frequency offsets. A subsequent waveform to the current waveform is received corresponding to a subsequent bit of the bitstream. Based on the subsequent bit and the current bit being associated with bits of the same value, a second dithered signal is output which is defined by a second frequency offset pseudorandomly selected from a second set of frequency offsets.

A method for controlling communication of information includes selecting a group of stations within range of an access point, transmitting a first signal from the access point to a first station in the group, and receiving at the access point a second signal from a second station in the group. The first signal is transmitted to the first station through a downlink channel. The second signal is received from the second station through an uplink channel. Transmission of the first signal takes place during a first period and reception of the second signal takes place during a second period overlapping the first period, in order to perform full-duplex different-frequency communications based on an 802.11 standard between the access point and the first station and the second station.

System and method for controlling full duplex communications at an access point

A millimeter-wave communication system includes a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is configured to be connected to a waveguide that is transmissive at millimeter-wave frequencies, the waveguide having a propagation parameter that varies with frequency at the millimeter-wave frequencies. The transmitter is configured to generate a millimeter-wave signal comprising multiple sub-carriers that are modulated with data, wherein each sub-carrier is modulated with a respective portion of the data and is subjected to only a respective fraction of a variation in the propagation parameter, and to transmit the millimeter-wave signal into a first end of the waveguide. The receiver is configured to receive the millimeter-wave signal from a second end of the waveguide, and to extract the data from the multiple sub-carriers.

Dispersion compensation in mm-wave communication over plastic waveguide using OFDM

A communication device generates a legacy portion of a physical layer (PHY) preamble of a PHY data unit. The legacy portion includes a plurality of legacy training fields and a legacy signal field that indicates a duration of the PHY data unit. The communication device generates a non-legacy portion of the PHY preamble to include a multi-bit signal field header to indicate a packet type of the PHY data unit from among a plurality of packet types defined by a wireless communication protocol, the plurality of packet types corresponding to a plurality of non-legacy signal field formats. The communication device generates a non-legacy portion of the PHY preamble to also include a non-legacy signal field having a field format i) selected from the plurality of non-legacy signal field formats and ii) consistent with the packet type indicated by the multi-bit signal field header.

A method for transmitting a first physical layer (PHY) protocol data unit (PPDU) in a wireless local area network (WLAN) communication channel is described. One or more sectors of a service coverage area of a first communication device that are busy with a first transmission over the WLAN communication channel are identified. A second communication device is selected, using the identification of the one or more busy sectors, to receive the first PPDU during a second, directional transmission that at least partially temporally overlaps a duration of the first transmission. The first PPDU is generated for transmission to the second communication device. The first PPDU is transmitted to the second communication device as the second, directional transmission during the first transmission.

A method of decoding data from high density memory includes reading voltage levels from a first memory cell and a set of one or more neighboring memory cells of flash memory in response to a read command with an address corresponding to the first memory cell, inputting the voltage levels into a trained model that has been trained on the flash memory to estimate bit values written to a memory cell based on respective voltage values read from the first memory cell and from the neighboring memory cells according to a layout of memory cells of the flash memory, obtaining from the trained model an estimated bit value written to the first memory cell based on the respective voltage levels of the first memory cell and the neighboring memory cells having been input into the trained model, and outputting the estimated hit value in response to the read command.

Various embodiments relate to a method for processing received distributed multiple-input and multiple-output (DMIMO) OFDM signals from a plurality of transmitters, including: performing an initial carrier frequency offset (CFO) correction; receiving a plurality of OFDM symbols; re-constructing the channel every N symbols based upon a channel estimate for each transmitter and an estimate of residual CFO for each of the transmitters based upon the long term fields (LTF), wherein N is an integer; and equalizing the received OFDM symbols using the re-constructed channel.

A method for communication in a wireless local area network (WLAN) includes receiving, at first and second access points (APs) in the WLAN, uplink signals from a first client station (STA), which is associated with a basic service set (BSS) of the first AP. First downlink signals are transmitted from the first AP to the first STA using a first steering matrix. Responsively to the received uplink signals, a second steering matrix is computed, having a null in a direction of the first STA. Second downlink signals are transmitted from the second AP to a second STA in the WLAN using the second steering matrix.
