Actuators, systems, and methods for controlling tools are disclosed. One actuator includes a first motor, a second motor, and a controller. The first motor is operable to rotate a first threading extending in a first helical direction around an axis. The second motor is operable to rotate a second threading axially spaced apart from the first threading and extending in a second helical direction opposite the first helical direction around the axis. The controller is in communication with the first and second motors. The controller is configured to control speed and direction of the first and second motors to effect a desired pattern of axial and rotational movement of the tool. One method includes rotating the first threading in a first rotational direction, and simultaneously, rotating the second threading in a second rotational direction opposite the first direction.

Actuators and methods for controlling tools

A handling device () for an installable and retrievable subsea apparatus () to engage a docking device () on a subsea installation, the docking device () having a pair of engagement members (). The device () is provided with a top member () and a pair of engagement arms () depending therefrom to extend along the outside of the apparatus (). Each of the arms () at a free end thereof is provided with a hook () configured to engage in releasable way the engagement members (). A rotatable handle () is located above the top member () and has an integral or linked stem () which extends through the top member () and is pivotally linked to a top region of the apparatus (). The handle () is able to operate the engagement arms () relative to the engagement members ().

Handling device for an installable and retrievable subsea apparatus

The invention relates to a releasable holding mechanism which may be used to hold and release a roll bar in a roll over protection system. The roll bar is often made part of the seat structure of vehicle, or a part of the chassis of the vehicle. The releasable holding mechanism will be fastened rigidly or slightly loose to the roll bar frame, seat frame or the chassis of the vehicle. Between the roll bar and the releasable holding mechanism there will be a connection element that is rigidly or slightly loosely fastened to the roll bar. The arrangement of fastening the connection element rigidly or slightly loosely depends on the tolerances for positioning the actuator towards the roll bar. The connection element is locked or released by the releasable holding mechanism. The releasable holding mechanism is locked/-engaged when the roll bar is pushed downwards whereby the connection element is forced into the releasable holding mechanism. The releasable holding mechanism is to release the connecting element when a signal is sent to the release element of the holding mechanism. The releasable holding mechanism can be activated by one short duration pulse, for instance a pulse from an electronic control unit for activation of airbags in a vehicle. The system can be activated with low energy demands.

Releasable holding mechanism and method of use

A transmission device transforms an alternate rotational movement of an alternately rotating element into a linear reciprocating movement. The device includes a linear reciprocating element connected to the rotating element, and a first pivoting element having a first fixed pivot point connected to the linear reciprocating element. The transmission device includes a second pivoting element connected to the first pivoting element. A ball member, which may be connected to a CPR piston, is attached to the second pivoting element. A third pivoting element having a second fixed pivot point is connected to the second pivoting element.

Method for controlling a gear-shifting process in a manual transmission with active interlock

A power transmission for a motor vehicle. The transmission includes a plurality of transmission ratio steps defined by pairs of gear carried on parallel shafts, and final output mechanisms for engaging desired transmission ratio steps. The final output mechanisms are operable for controlling the engagement of respective transmission ratio steps to minimize tractive force interruption by allowing rapid gear changes to be effected to reduce the times between shifts of gears. By sensing accelerator pedal position and vehicle speed a new transmission ratio step to be subsequently engaged can be pre-selected while an engaged gear remains engaged.

Transmission

An actuator for an automated transmission in a motor vehicle drive train has a central actuating shaft with a shift finger. Two sleeves are supported concentrically on the actuating shaft and can be driven in mutually independent rotation. Two grooves of opposite helical pitch are arranged on the actuating shaft, and each of the sleeves has at least one inward-directed guide pin engaging one of the grooves.

Actuator for a motor vehicle transmission

An actuator for a motor vehicle transmission has a shift cylinder performing rotary actuating movements. An electric motor is arranged inside the shift cylinder and drives the latter either through a harmonic drive mechanism or a planetary drive mechanism. The arrangement provides a high reduction ratio and an efficient use of limited space.
