Embodiments included herein are directed towards a seismic spread system that may use a MEMS oscillator as a timing reference. The system may include a plurality of nodal seismic sensor units. The system may also include a plurality of MEMS oscillator clock devices, wherein each of the plurality of MEMS oscillator clock devices is associated with a respective one of the plurality of nodal seismic sensor units, the plurality of MEMS oscillator clock devices being configured to input time synchronization to the seismic system. Each MEMS oscillator clock device may include a MEMS resonator in communication with an integrated circuit.

A multiple axis sensor assembly includes an enclosure and encapsulated microelectromechanical system (MEMS) sensors. The encapsulated sensors are disposed inside the enclosure and are mounted in different orientations, which correspond to different axes of the sensor assembly. A controller of the sensor assembly is disposed in the enclosure and electrically coupled to the MEMS sensors.

A system includes a subterranean survey data acquisition network and a processor. The network has first nodes that are distributed along a length of the network between a first end of the network and a second end of the network. Each of the first nodes is capable of being either in a state in which the first node is transparent to the network or in a state in which the first node is visible to the network. The processor is adapted to communicate with the closest visible first node relative to the first end, and the processor is adapted to, based on the communication, determine whether the closest visible first node is the closest first node of all of the first nodes relative to the first end.

Particle motion vector measurement in a towed, marine seismic cable

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for seismic data acquisition. One embodiment of the method includes accessing data acquired by at least two particle motion sensors. The data includes a seismic signal and a noise signal and the at least two particle motion sensors being separated by a length determined based on a noise coherence length. The method may also include processing the accessed data to remove a portion of the noise signal.
