A high-frequency resistant ground fault circuit interrupter (HF-GFCI) with self-test and end-of-life detection is disclosed. The invention incorporates a noise-resistant fault detection circuit, an auto-test module, and an end-of-life shutdown mechanism to ensure reliable protection. The device minimizes false tripping due to high-frequency noise and enhances safety through continuous self-monitoring. Experimental validation confirms improved immunity to leakage currents and transient voltage disturbances. The HF-GFCI also provides an LED circuit having dual functionality: an LED indicator circuit and neutral to ground detection on the load side of the HF-GFCI.

A High Frequency ground fault circuit interrupter (HF-GFCI) resistant to high frequency nuisance tripping with end-of-life self-testing is provided. The HF GFCI includes a circuit breaker and a relay circuit for controlling the circuit breaker. The HF-GFCI also includes a fault detecting circuit and latch circuit. Also provided is an isolation circuit for isolating the latch circuit and the fault detecting circuit during self-test; and a self-test circuit for testing the latch circuit and the fault detecting circuit. The HF-GFCI provides an end-of-life circuit for disabling the HF-GFCI if self-test fails.

A LCDI power cord circuit is provided. The circuit includes energizing shielded wires and monitoring the energized shields for surges, e.g., arcing, and/or voltage drops, e.g., shield breaks detected by a Power Cord Fault Circuit (PCFC). In addition to shield breaks the PCFC also monitors the energized shields for shield degradation due to, for example, galvanic corrosion.

A LCDI power cord circuit is provided. The circuit includes energizing shielded wires and monitoring the energized shields for surges, e.g., arcing, and/or voltage drops, e.g., shield breaks detected by a Power Cord Fault Circuit (PCFC). The PCFC includes one dual purpose amplifying/switch transistor and the LCDI power cord circuit does not include any discrete capacitive components.

A circuit interrupting safety device (CISD) interrupts the flow of current through a pair of lines extending between a source of power and a load. The CISD includes a column reset assembly functioning as a circuit breaker and a contact actuator, a relay circuit including a solenoid, and a fault detecting circuit packaged in a circuit assembly. The solenoid includes a solenoid pin in an extended state when the CISD is reset and a non-extended state when the CISD is tripped.

A manually switched Testguard circuit with auto-monitoring and end-of-life circuitry is provided. The manually switched Testguard circuit interrupts the flow of current through a pair of lines, wherein one of the pair of lines extends between a line input and a line output and the other line extends between a neutral input and a neutral output. The manually switched Testguard circuit includes a monitoring module for detecting an end-of-life condition. The monitoring module includes a simulated ground fault generator for simulating a ground fault; an auto-monitoring logic module; a relay synchronized switch; and an end-of-life switch for disabling the manually switched Testguard circuit if certain Testguard component failures are detected.

A cool running ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) with radio frequency (RF) noise suppression and a Capacitive Power Supply tbr interrupting the flow of current through a pair of load and neutral lines extending between an input power source and a load is provided. The GFCI includes a pair of switches disposed between the input power source and the load. The switches are actuated by a relay circuit initially powered by a booster circuit and a constant on power supply. A capacitive power supply for cool operation of the GFCI is connected to the load line via a current limiting resistor and provides power to the constant on power supply circuit.

A system and method for an LCDI power cord and associated circuits is provided. The system and method include energizing shielded neutral wires and shielded line wires and monitoring the energized shields for surges, e.g., arcing, detected by a Leakage Current Detection Circuit (LCDC) and/or voltage drops, e.g., shield breaks, detected by a Shield Integrity Circuit (SIC).
