A multi-spot ophthalmic laser device that produces spatially distributed laser spots with the spatial distribution of the laser spots defined by a spot diameter to space ratio in the range 1:2 to 1:20. The multi-spot ophthalmic laser device comprises: a laser module producing a laser pulse or sequence of laser pulses each having: a pulse duration in the range of 10 ps to 20 &#x3bc;s; a wavelength in the range 500 nm to 900 nm; and a pulse energy in the range 10 &#x3bc;J to 10 mJ per pulse; and an optical beam profiling module that modifies an output beam profile of each pulse of the laser module to deliver multiple spatially distributed laser spots of defined size and energy. The multi-spot ophthalmic laser device is used in a method of improving the function of the retina of a human eye by irradiation through the cornea of the eye to the retinal pigmented epithelium by a treatment laser having a beam profile with spatially distributed energy peaks.

Multi-spot ophthalmic laser

The invention resides in a pattern laser comprising a plurality of laser devices each emitting a treatment laser beam into an optical fibre of an optical fibre bundle. An optical coupling module is associated with each laser device and each optical fibre for coupling a treatment laser beam into the associated optical fibre. A controller controls the operation of the laser devices by selectively turning on or off one or more of the laser devices so as to form a laser treatment pattern at an end of the fibre bundle away from the laser devices. A delivery system images the output from the fibre bundle to a treatment zone.

Pattern laser

A laser treatment device for use in retinal regeneration. The laser treatment device includes a laser module that delivers a pulse or sequence of pulses having a pulse duration in the range of 50 ps to 500 ns, a wavelength in the range 500 nm to 900 nm, and a pulse energy in the range 100 &#x3bc;J to 10 mJ. The laser treatment device also includes a uniform irradiance module that modifies an output beam profile of the laser module to produce a uniform treatment effect and a beam delivery and viewing module that delivers the laser pulse or pulses to the retina with a radiant exposure in the range of 8 mJ/cmto 8000 mJ/cmper pulse.

Retinal rejuvenation laser

An ophthalmic laser system () for performing procedures such as Retinal Photocoagulation and Laser Trabeculoplasty comprises a delivery module () and a console module (). The console module includes a treatment laser and optical elements for directing output from the treatment laser to an optical fiber (), which is substantially enclosed within the delivery module. The delivery module includes a slit lamp tower (), viewing microscope () and alignment optics for directing and focusing output from the optical fiber to a patient treatment zone.
