A wind turbine blade integrating a lightning protection system is provided. The wind turbine blade includes one spar cap formed by carbon plates stacked together; and a first down-conductor placed alongside the tip region of the spar cap, and a second down-conductor placed alongside the root region of the spar cap. The first down-conductor extends from the spar cap's tip end to the mid region, and terminates at a first down-conductor's end adjacent a first region of the spar cap which extends from a cross-sectional area of the spar cap which area is equal or higher than 75% of the maximum cross-sectional area of the spar cap, which is closest to the spar cap's tip end, to a cross-sectional area of the spar cap which is 100% of the cross-sectional area of the spar cap, being 100% of the cross-sectional area the one closest to the spar cap's root end.

Wind turbine blades with de-icing and/or anti-icing systems including at least one heating unit disposed along the blade's length and between the blade's chord, wherein each heating unit in turn comprises a plurality of heating elements connected both in series and in parallel in a matrix configuration by overlaps or cross-adjacent junctions between adjacent heating elements order to change the electric heating current flow disposing of any additional terminals cables and further enabling to generate a gradually increasing heat flux from the blade root towards the blade tip and from the trailing edge towards the leading edge through each individual heating unit adapting accurately to heat flux demand and hence reducing energy consumption for de-icing and/or anti-icing.

A lightning current transmission system in a wind turbine between a metal band located at the root of each blade and a metal ring located at the nacelle through a lightning current transmission element comprising a conductive portion, an insulating portion and a supporting unit to be joined to the rotor hub. The metal band and the metal ring are configured with protruding parts extended towards the lightning current transmission element. The conductive portion of the lightning current transmission element comprises first and second receptors mounted on a base plate at different heights and oriented in a direction pointing, respectively, to the protruding parts of the metal band and the metal ring.
