A device for collimation or focusing of a relativistic electron packet, obtained in particular by laser-plasma acceleration, including a gas cloud and a laser capable of emitting a laser pulse focused in the gas cloud in order to create therein a wave of focusing electric and magnetic fields. The invention also relates to a device for emission of a collimated or focused relativistic electron packet. The invention further relates to a collimation or focusing method for a relativistic electron packet, and to methods for emission of a collimated or focused relativistic electron packet.

Laser plasma lens

A method and apparatus for generating a pulsed jet of fluid, and transforming the jet into a plasma. The method includes using a high-pressure rapid solenoid valve, and a pipe mounted on an outlet opening of the solenoid valve to produce a pulsed fluid jet which is sub-millimetric in size, and the atomic density of which is more than 10cm.

Method and arrangement for generating a jet of fluid, method and system for transforming the jet into a plasma, and uses of said system

A device and a method for creating a spatial dose distribution in a medium volume () are described. A laser system produces laser pulses () with a pulse length shorter than 200 fs (femtoseconds) and is capable to be focused to peak intensities greater than 10^18 W/cm^2 (watts per centimeter squared). An electron source () is capable of releasing a high-energy electron pulse (), in particular the electrons having an energy greater than 100 MeV, upon irradiation with said laser pulses () propagating into the medium volume (). The light paths () of at least some of the laser pulses () are adjustable in such a way that high-energy electron pulses () are emitted from the irradiated at least one electron source on different trajectories () through the medium volume () thereby depositing their dose in the medium volume () according to a provided pattern.

Device and method for creating a spatial dose distribution in a medium volume

A device for generating a high-energy particle pulse is provided which comprises a laser system producing laser pulses with pulse length shorter than 100 fs (femtoseconds), and capable to be focused to peak intensities greater than 10A18 W/cmA2, preferred greater than 10A20 W/cmA2 (watts per centimeter squared), a device for shaping the temporal intensity profile accompanying said at least one laser pulse for increasing the laser contrast above 10^5, preferably above IL 0A7, especially 1OA10, and a target capable of releasing a high-energy particle pulse, particularly an electron or a proton pulse, upon irradiation with at least one of said laser pulses. A. corresponding method using the device is also described.
