A microwave antenna for two-way communication via a satellite is presented. The antenna may feature lightweight plastic construction that may allow the antenna to be highly dynamic, to feature high tracking capabilities and to require a much simpler drive construction. The presented antenna may provide high reliability at a reasonable cost. Such antenna may be highly suitable for on-the-move communication applications. The antenna may be used for supporting airborne communication systems operative via satellites.

Lightweight plastic antenna

A multi-band low-profile, low-volume two-way mobile panel array antenna system is described. Operation of the antenna may automatically switch between bands based on various user-entered parameters.

Antenna system

An antenna system comprising a first multi-layer Printed Circuit Board having multiple antenna elements disposed thereon, at least a second multi-layer PCB, which is mounted below the first multi-layer PCB, and which comprises electronic components for processing Radio Frequency signals received by the antenna elements; and multiple RF transitions, which are mounted between the first and second multi-layer PCBs and are operative to transfer the RF signals from the first multi-layer PCB for processing by the electronic components in the second multi-layer PCB.

Flat mobile antenna system

Applications for the system include military, civilian, and domestic emergency response applications. The antenna arrangements may be configured to form a spatial element array able to track a satellite in an elevation plane by electronically dynamically targeting the antenna arrangement and/or mechanically dynamically rotating the antenna arrangements about transverse axes giving rise to generation of respective elevation angles and dynamically changing the respective distances between the axes whilst maintaining a predefined relationship between said distances and the respective elevation angles. The system provides dynamic tracking of satellite signals and can be used for satellite communications on moving vehicles in military and civilian applications.

Applications for low profile two way satellite antenna system

Antenna assembly for satellite tracking system that includes a plurality of antenna arrangements, each having one or more ports, and all ports connected through transmission lines in a combining/splitting circuit. The antenna arrangements form a spatial element array able to track a satellite in an elevation plane by mechanically dynamically rotating the antenna arrangements about transverse axes giving rise to generation of respective elevation angles and dynamically changing the respective distances between the axes whilst maintaining a predefined relationship between said distances and the respective elevation angles. The combining/splitting circuit provides phasing and signal delay in order to maintain pre configured radiating parameters. The arrangements can be mounted on a rotating platform to provide azimuth tracking. The system provides dynamic tracking of satellite signals and can be used for satellite communications on moving vehicles.

The antenna element comprises: an electrically conductive ground plane () on which two orthogonal symmetrically crossing slots () are formed; a radiating patch () supported in a spaced relationship on the one side of the said ground plane; conductive feeding tracks () supported on the other side of the said ground plane and electromagnetically coupled with the slots (). One of the ends of each feeding track () is input/output port () of the antenna element and the other end is disposed after the slot (), so as the feeding tracks () to cross the slots (). A compensating capacitive element () couples the ends of the feeding tracks () laid after the slots ().
