An apparatus for fastening around a cranial burr hole includes a substantially flat core and a shell encapsulating a ring portion of the core. The shell defines an orifice substantially centered within the ring portion, and has a contoured lower surface to match the cranial curvature. Pliable arms of the core extend laterally from the ring portion, each being terminated by a fastener member. A central portion of a placement tool for the apparatus has a lower part configured to extend through the apparatus orifice, and an upper part from which first and second arms of the tool extend laterally. Each tool arm is terminated with a receptacle to hold a bone screw, and, when the tool central portion lower part extends through the apparatus orifice, each receptacle aligns with a corresponding fastener member, and lower openings of the receptacles are generally oriented along the contoured lower surface.

Medical device anchoring

Aspects of this disclosure describe methods and systems for phrenic nerve stimulation using a stimulation lead placed in a blood vessel. The stimulation lead includes at least one deformable segment that has at least two configurations. For example, the deformable segment may have an elongate configuration and a non-elongate configuration. In the elongate configuration, the deformable segment may be substantially straight, thereby allowing placement of the stimulation lead using a catheter. In the non-elongate configuration, the deformable segment may be a circle or spiral. The deformable segment may transition from the elongate configuration to the non-elongate configuration after the stimulation lead is positioned in the vein. The stimulation lead may be fixated to the vein at a fixation element. Additionally, the stimulation lead may include electrodes distributed along the deformable segment and at least one elongate segment.

Intravenous phrenic nerve stimulation lead

A prosthetic heart valve is disclosed that is deformable between collapsed, radially uncompressed, and target conditions. The prosthetic heart valve includes an inner frame, at least one leaflet, and a braided wire mesh arranged outside and coupled to the inner frame by a coupling portion. The braided wire mesh includes a body portion between the coupling portion and a flared portion. In the radially uncompressed condition, the prosthetic heart valve forms a cavity surrounded by the braided wire mesh and the inner frame. In the target condition, only a part of the length of the body portion is radially compressed along an axis extending from an upstream side to a downstream side. In the collapsed condition, the inner frame and braided wire mesh are radially collapsed over their entire length. In the radially uncompressed condition, the body portion is tubular and the braided wire mesh has a rotationally symmetric circumference.

Prosthetic heart valve

Techniques, systems and apparatus for anchoring a therapy delivery device within a body portal are disclosed. An anchoring apparatus may comprise a first part comprising an outer sidewall and opposing grip surfaces. The outer sidewall may extend around a longitudinal axis of the apparatus to define an outer perimeter, at least a portion which may engage a surface of the body portal. A second part may comprise first and second activation members and a slot configured to receive the therapy delivery device. When the therapy delivery device is received in the slot and the second part is moved generally along the longitudinal axis, the first and second activation members may move the opposing grip surfaces toward one another to thereby anchor the therapy delivery device between the opposing grip surfaces.

An assembly for a medical lead includes an elongated lead body, and a conductive element located at a distal portion of the lead body. The conductive element substantial!)' encircles a longitudinal axis of the lead body. The assembly further includes a plurality of insulated conductors extending within the lead body, each of the insulated conductors being in electrical contact with the conductive element and extending to a proximal end of the lead body. Each of the insulated conductors contacts a different circumferential portion of the conductive element. The conductive element is configured to facilitate mechanical and electrical separation of different circumferential portions of the conductive element to form two or more electrode segments for the medical lead from the conductive element.
