A heat exchange device for heating liquid adhesive material to an application temperature suitable for an adhesive bonding application includes a body having an inlet configured to receive a flow of liquid adhesive material and an outlet configured to provide the liquid adhesive material to a dispensing device for the adhesive bonding application. A fluid passageway in the body connects the inlet and the outlet. The fluid passageway includes a thin slit section in the form of an elongated ring shape, having a length along a fluid flow direction between the inlet and the outlet, the thin slit section further having a first dimension and a second dimension transverse to the fluid flow direction. The first dimension and the length are substantially greater than the second dimension. The heat exchange device further includes a heating element for heating the liquid adhesive material flowing through the thin slit section.

A method and an apparatus for dispensing liquid material to a substrate comprising a housing having a bore and an inlet for supplying liquid material from a material source to the bore. A nozzle communicates with the inlet and includes a discharge opening for dispensing the liquid material. A movable plunger is mounted for reciprocal movement between a closed and an open position. In the open position, liquid material is dispensed from the discharge opening and in the closed position, liquid material is prevented from being dispensed from the discharge opening. An actuator moves the plunger between the closed and the open position. The plunger has at least one slot extending from the outer periphery toward the center of the plunger.

The rear end of the sealing piston and the front end of the working piston are exposed to the pressure of the fluid in the second partial volume () while a movable adjuster piston () is provided to which compressed air can be applied and which is coupled to the endstop that determines the extent to which the valve opens between its closed and its open positions.

Electrically-operated dispensing modules capable of dispensing small volumes of a viscous liquid at high operating frequencies and reproducibly among successive dispensed volumes of viscous liquid without the occurrence of stringing. The dispensing module may include a flux element having a portion effective for interrupting circumferential electrical current paths. In another aspect, an end face of a pole piece of the dispensing module may include one or more non-magnetic spacer elements that prevent contact between the pole piece and armature when the dispensing module is opened.

Nozzle for dispensing adhesives and sealants

The present invention pertains to a device for applying fluid material on a substrate. The device includes a valve body, a pole piece, and an electromagnetic drive unit that generates a magnetic field that moves the valve body relative to a pole piece between a closed position that interrupts the flow of material and an open position that releases the flow of material. The effect of the magnetic field provided by the drive unit is strengthened by the presence of a flux element. The flux element incorporates a portion, such as a slit, that eliminates circumferential electrical current paths, which allows the flux element to demagnetize more quickly when the drive unit is de-energized to remove the electromagnetic field. The rapid demagnetization decreases the cycle time for moving the valve body from the open position to the closed position.
