A method of detecting a vertebral endplate rim according to embodiments of the present disclosure includes receiving, at a processor, a binary mask of a vertebra; applying a Laplacian filter to the binary mask to yield a processed image; identifying, in the processed image, a set of edges having a sharpness that exceeds a predetermined threshold; deformably registering a template to a plurality of points corresponding to at least some of the edges in the set of edges; excluding some of the plurality of points based on at least one predetermined criterion; and generating additional points by interpolating among a remaining subset of the plurality of points to yield a set of points defining an endplate rim of the vertebra.

Systems, methods, and devices for detecting anatomical features

Systems and methods for monitoring one or more anatomical elements are provided. An image depicting one or more anatomical elements and a plurality of annotations may be received. The image may comprise a plurality of image elements. Each annotation may correspond to one of the one or more anatomical elements and may be associated with one of the plurality of image elements. Movement information about movement of at least a portion of a particular anatomical element may be received. Image elements corresponding to the particular anatomical element may be identified to yield a set of image elements. The set of image elements may be adjusted based on the movement information to yield an updated image reflecting changes to affected anatomical elements.

Systems and methods for monitoring one or more anatomical elements

A system and method include transmitting a signal according to a set of frequencies. A frequency range associated with the set of frequencies is from about 300 Hz to about 30 MHz. The system and method include sensing an electromagnetic field based on transmitting the signal according to the set of frequencies and determining a distortion in association with sensing the electromagnetic field. The system and method include identifying frequencies at which the magnitude of the distortion is less than the threshold value. The system and method include transmitting the signal according to one or more of the identified frequencies and providing navigation information associated with an environment in response to transmitting the signal.

Systems and methods for correcting experienced EM fields measured at each of one or more EM trackers of an EM tracking system as such measurements are influenced by a known distorter are disclosed herein. An EM emitter may transmit an EM field such that it contains the one or more EM trackers. The system then determines a pose of a distorter within the EM field. The system receives, from each EM tracker, data representing experienced EM fields as distorted by a distortion field caused by the distorter. The system proceeds to determine the distortion field using the pose and a model comprising one or more characteristics of the distorter. The system may first optimize the model. The system calculates data representing corresponding corrected experienced EM fields based on each respective experienced EM field and the determined distortion field at the same location.

A re-registration method includes receiving a first image depicting a reference frame attached to a patient and oriented in a first pose relative to the patient, the first image obtained by an imaging device mounted to a movable support that has been locked in a selected pose; receiving a second image depicting the reference frame oriented in a second pose relative to the patient, the second image obtained by the imaging device with the movable support locked in the selected pose; and updating a registration between the reference frame and the patient to reflect that the reference frame has been moved from the first pose to the second pose.
