Cold spray devices and systems are disclosed. They include a flowpath having an inlet adapted for receiving communication with two or more inputs and an outlet adapted to discharge the two or more inputs. A discharge nozzle may be included in the flowpath of the outlet and a confluence may be included in the flowpath at the inlet for combining the two or more inputs. A nozzle body houses the discharge nozzle separate and downstream from the confluence of the two inputs.

Cold spray device and system

Various embodiments disclosed relate to a method of cold-spray deposition involving cooling the cold-spray nozzle by at least one of expanding and vaporizing a compressed cooling fluid in proximity to the cold-spray nozzle. The present disclosure also includes a cold-spray deposition spray head, a cooling jacket for a cold-spray deposition nozzle and a cold-spray deposition system comprising the same.

Active cooling of cold-spray nozzles

The present disclosure addresses limitations with methods, systems and processes for integrating multiple advanced technologies into a single automated manufacturing and repair cell. The methods, systems and processes of the present disclosure leverage unique software and hardware to configure a manufacturing cell that is capable of conducting process development and planning, dimensional analysis, pre-machining, surface preparation, cold spray (supersonic particle deposition), dust collection, helium recovery, and post machining in a single integrated manufacturing and repair cell.

Cold spray manufacturing and repair cell

A method for manufacturing a gun barrel with a cold spray process. The method includes the use of a mandrel having a tubular body and being made of a material with properties suited to use with gun barrel manufacture and materials and cold spray processes. The gun barrel includes a liner, one or more structural layers and an outer jacket. The mandrel is dissolved in a chemical process during manufacture of the gun barrel.

Cold spray methods for manufacturing gun barrels

A process for joining dissimilar materials. The process includes providing a first component made from a first material and a second component made from a second material. The process also includes cold spraying a bead of the second material onto the first component and joining the second component to the bead on the first component such that a weldment is formed from the first component and the second component. In some instances, joining of the second component to the bead on the first component is performed by fusion welding the bead and the second component together.

Cold spray and WAAM methods for manufacturing gun barrels

Methods for aircraft component repair and reclamation are provided. Cold spraying aircraft panels include identifying a fastener hole in an aircraft panel in need of repair, capturing the location of the fastener hole, and depositing cold spray material about the fastener hole for reclaiming the aircraft panel. Any excess material may be removed. Cold spraying hydraulic lines includes identifying a surface of the hydraulic line in need of repair, aiming a cold spray nozzle at the surface of the hydraulic line and depositing a cold spray material on the surface of the hydraulic line. Excess cold spray material may be removed as needed.

Methods for cold spray repair

A wear resistant coating protects against corrosion and erosion of the thin metal protective sheath on turbomachinery applications. The coating has a metal layer overlaid by a ceramic layer. Multiple metal and ceramic layers can make up the coating with the layers varying in thickness allowing the layers nearer the substrate to remain more malleable to bend with the sheath and those layers nearer the top of the coating to be more brittle and resistant to wear. A cold spray metallic layer applied to the substrate provides a lightweight, flexible layer beneath the corrosion and erosion resistant protective multilayer coating.

Erosion and corrosion resistant protective coating for turbomachinery methods of making the same and applications thereof

A method for making parts in conjunction with a mold having a negative shape of the part. The mold is coated with a release agent and thereafter the part material is deposited on the release agent in the mold by gas dynamic cold spray. Thereafter, the release agent is separated from both the mold and the part either thermally, chemically, or mechanically.

A method of forming a corrosion resistant neutron absorbing coating comprising the steps of spray or deposition or sputtering or welding processing to form a composite material made of a spray or deposition or sputtering or welding material, and a neutron absorbing material.
