Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which radio units (RUs), distributed units (DUs), or combinations thereof, may have a single hardware configuration that may be configured to implement different functions for radio frequency (RF) and baseband processing at a base station. A desired functionality for a RU or DU may be identified, and the RU or DU may be configured to implement the functionality through run-time configuration or boot images to implement a particular set of functions that may be needed for a particular cell or deployment. A RU or DU may be reconfigured following an initial configuration to perform different functions following the reconfiguration.

Methods and apparatus for flexible configuration of fronthaul split radio units

A method for wireless communication includes monitoring a channel of a radio frequency spectrum band using at least a first receiver and a second receiver in parallel; determining, during the monitoring, at least a first received signal strength of a first receiver output of the first receiver, and a second received signal strength of a second receiver output of the second receiver; and selecting, based on the first received signal strength and the second received signal strength, one or both of the first receiver output or the second receiver output for use in decoding a candidate information signal of unknown signal strength. The first and second receivers are set to first and second fixed gain state providing the first and second receivers with first and second dynamic ranges. The second dynamic range partially overlaps the first dynamic range to provide the wireless device an extended dynamic range.

Various aspects described herein relate to calibrating transceiver impairment in wireless communications. Direct current (DC) components of one or more signals can be modified, using one or more configured DC components, for transmitting to a user equipment (UE) via a transmitter. A receiver can receive the one or more signals as transmitted via the transmitter. An impairment of at least one of the transmitter, the receiver, or a combination thereof, can be determined based at least in part on comparing the DC components of the one or more signals as received via the receiver to the one or more configured DC components. One or more components of at least one of the transmitter, the receiver, or a combination thereof can be adjusted to compensate for the impairment.

Techniques for RF transceiver self-calibration

Various aspects described herein relate to adjusting transmit power of a radio frequency (RF) transceiver. A total power adjustment for adjusting a transmit power of the RF transceiver can be determined. The transmit power can be adjusted to a first adjusted transmit power based at least in part on a first adjustment size that is less than the total power adjustment and determined based at least in part on the transmit power. Digital pre-distortion (DPD) training of the RF transceiver can be performed to adjust one or more coefficients for calibrating the RF transceiver based on the first adjusted transmit power. The first adjusted transmit power can be adjusted to a second adjusted transmit power based at least in part on a second adjustment size that is less than the total power adjustment and computed based at least in part on the first adjusted transmit power.

Techniques for modifying transceiver power during digital pre-distortion training

Methods and apparatus for supporting peer to peer and infrastructure, e.g., cellular, communication in a multimode device which can operate in a cellular system are described. Methods and apparatus for supporting peer to peer devices are also described. Peer to peer communication occurs within a switching time period during which infrastructure signaling does not occur and devices switch between an uplink and a downlink mode of infrastructure operation. The time period set for the switching time period is intentionally set larger, e.g., 10, 50, 100 or even more times larger than that required based on maximum cell size. Thus, a peer to peer communications period can be introduced into a TDD system and use the same frequency band as the TDD system in a manner that can remain compliant with a cellular communications protocol which allows for a switching time period, e.g., set in the system by a parameter.

Methods and apparatus for supporting peer to peer communications

This patent discloses a method to communicate between a femtocell base station and mobile devices. The method may include identifying as an alert group a set of mobile devices presently in communication with the femtocell base station and whose unique identifiers are preregistered with the femtocell base station. A first mobile device and a second mobile device may be in the set of femtocell service region mobile devices. The femtocell base station may receive a call from a third mobile device. If the call is for the second mobile device, then the method may send a paging message from the femtocell base station. The paging message may include a first unique identifier associated with the first mobile device.
