In one example aspect, a method of transmitting packets wirelessly is provided. The method comprises, for each packet, requesting to transmit the packet, waiting for a respective random or pseudorandom time period before transmitting the packet, and transmitting the packet containing a respective data portion, wherein a position of the respective data portion in the packet is selected such that a time interval between transmission of respective data portions in adjacent packets is a constant time interval.

Transmitting and receiving packets wirelessly with time based packet data portion positioning

Disclosed is a latency control method of a transmitter apparatus adapted for transmission of a plurality of packets under clear channel assessment requirements and latency requirements. The method comprises determining a maximum required time for clear channel assessment for the plurality of packets and determining a duration of time related to the determined maximum required time. For example, the duration of time may be determined as being equal to the determined maximum required time for clear channel assessment plus an offset. The offset may be equal to zero, or may be equal to a positive value. In some embodiments, the offset may be equal to, or larger than, a duration of another packet (which is not comprised in the plurality of packets). The method also comprises enforcing, for each packet of the plurality of packets, the determined duration of time to elapse after completion of transmission of the packet, before transmission of a subsequent packet of the plurality of packets is initiated. Corresponding latency control apparatus, transmitter apparatus, communication device and computer program product are also disclosed.

A prioritization method for random access, comprising receiving one or more first packet flow for transmission, wherein the one or more first packet flow is assigned a respective access category queue, initiating a random access procedure for the first packet flow, receiving a packet of a second packet flow for transmission, wherein the second packet flow is assigned an access category queue having priority over the access category queue assigned to the first packet flow, issuing an indication configured to interrupt the random access procedure for the first packet flow, and performing a random access procedure for the received packet of the second packet flow wherein idle time slots previously sensed by the random access procedure for the first packet flow are considered as sensed also for the random access procedure for the second packet flow. Corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also disclosed.

Prioritization for random access

Embodiments described herein relate to methods and apparatus for performing link adaptation processes in a network. A method in a transmitting node in a wireless local area network comprises obtaining a first traffic flow for transmitting to a receiving node, wherein the first traffic flow is associated with a first category based on a reliability requirement associated with the first traffic flow; selecting a first link adaptation process from a plurality of link adaptation processes based on the first category; and transmitting the first traffic flow to the receiving node based on the first link adaptation process.

Methods and apparatus for performing link adaptation processes in a network

A first node for use in a telecommunications network. The first node is adapted to acquire an indication of a performance associated with sending traffic through an aggregation of a first link and a second link and send the traffic through one of: the first link, the second link, and an aggregation of the first link and the second link, based on the indication. There is further a second node adapted to determine an indication of a performance associated with a first node sending traffic through an aggregation of a first link and a second link, and send a signal to the first node, based on the indication.

First node and a second node and methods of operating the same

A first transmit device (), a relay device () and methods therein, for supporting wireless communication between transmit devices over a shared radio resource in a wireless network. The first transmit device () records (B) source identities and destination identities of detected transmissions of data made by other transmit devices (). Methods, first transmit device and relay device for supporting wireless communication

A controller controls a communications link between a first node and a second node, by requesting one or more candidate devices to detect signals transmitted by the first and second nodes. It receives signal quality measurements from at least one candidate device, relating to signals received by each respective candidate device from the first and second nodes and, in response to the received signal quality measurements, determines whether to select a candidate device to act as a relay between the first and second nodes. If this determination is made, it requests the selected candidate device to act as a relay between the first and second nodes. A candidate device receives the request from the controller and determines a signal quality measurement of signals received from the first and second nodes. It reports the signal quality measurements of signals received from the first and second nodes to the controller device.

Method for selecting a device to act as a relay device between a first and a second node based on received signal quality measurements

The present disclosure relates a method, performed by a communication node of a cellular radio access network, for estimating a radio link quality of a direct link between a first user equipment and a second user equipment. The invention also provides a method performed in a user equipment, which method is used to monitor communication for the purpose of estimating communication in a possible direct link between a first user equipment and a second user equipment. The communication node instructs a user equipment to eavesdrop an uplink of an other user equipment UL. The communication node obtaining data directly from the uplink ULand receives eavesdropped data from the user equipment. The communication node evaluates the radio link based on the data obtained from the uplink and the data eavesdropped from the uplink. The user equipment receives an instruction to eavesdrop the uplink UL. The user equipment receives and obtains digital data from the uplink UL, and reports to the network.

Method for estimating communication in a direct link

The invention relates to a method for allocating a common radio resource for simultaneous transmission of data streams in multiple pairs of communication nodes in a multi-node wireless network. The invention also relates to a method of assessing radio resource isolation in a multi-node wireless network. The inventive methods include transmission () of at least a first and a second test probe message on a common radio test resource. Receipt of the intended test probe messages are verified (), whereupon radio resource isolation may be determined and a common radio resource allocated () for transmission in the tested communication node pairs. The invention also relates to a communication node and a control node wherein the inventive methods are applied.

Methods and arrangements for allocation of radio resources

Methods and apparatuses are provided for mitigating interference in a Wireless Local Access Network or WLAN that may be caused by a radio node. Signal measurements are monitored at frequencies corresponding to one or more WLAN channels in one or more frequency bands. It is determined, based on the signal measurements at the frequencies, whether there are any channels among possible primary and secondary channel pairings of the WLAN channels that are being used by the WLAN as secondary channels. Spectrum usage by the radio node is controlled in dependence on the determination.

The address translation capabilities of packet-switched mobile networks are exploited to achieve bidirectional LAN communications therethrough. A multi-dash user VPN can be provided by encapsulating a multi-user LAN communication protocol for traversal of a packet-switched network. By encapsulating a commonly available multi-user LAN communication protocol, for example ethernet, remote LAN connectivity can be extended without requiring any host reconfiguration.

Using tunneling to enhance remote LAN connectivity

In packet communication paths that include header compression, header fields of packets to be communicated are altered. The alteration of the header fields does not disturb their functionality, and is transparent to the header compression scheme of the packet communication path. The altered header fields are provided for compression by the header compression scheme, resulting in improved performance of the header compression scheme. Performance improvements can also be achieved in packet communication paths that do not use header compression, by violating the integrity of header fields in packets to be transmitted over the packet communication path.
