A soap bar comprising: (a) 25 to 85% by weight, based on the total weight of the bar, of fatty acid soap; (b) 0.1 to 100 ppm by weight, based on the total weight of the bar, of at least one silver (I) compound having a selected silver ion solubility, wherein at 25&#xb0; C., a 1 wt % solution of the bar in water has a pH of from 9 to 11.

Soap bar having enhanced antibacterial activity

Method of cleansing human skin employing an aqueous soap composition comprising of fatty acid soap, at least one silver (I) compound having a silver ion solubility (in water at 25&#xb0; C.) of at least 1&#xd7;10mol/L, and water, which composition provides biocidal activity against Gram positive bacteria in particular, in relatively short contact periods.

Liquid soap having enhanced antibacterial activity

Disclosed is a cleansing composition comprising: (i) a non-soap surfactant which is an alkyi glycinate, alkyi carboxy glycinate, sarcosinate, glutamate or a mixture thereof; and, (ii) one or more antimicrobial agent, wherein pH of said composition is at least 8.5 and zein number of said composition is in the range of 10 to 65 and wherein soap content of said composition is not greater than 5 wt %. The formulation is highly alkaline, yet gives mild antibacterial cleansing action.

Mild antibacterial cleansing compositions

A cosmetic composition is provided which is substantially free of fatty acids and soap and yet displays the typical sensory and optical features of a vanishing cream. The composition comprises C-Cfatty alcohol, emulsifier, inorganic agent, polymer and water. The inorganic agent comprises smectite clay. The composition is mild and may be used to stabilise and deliver a wide variety of skin benefit agents such as sunscreens.
