A coiled tubing assembly includes coiled tubing having a side wall that defines an opening and an insert covering the opening and affixed to the coiled tubing. The coiled tubing has a longitudinal axis. The insert defines a capillary window therethrough. The opening and the insert include ends that are non-perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. A method of making a coiled tubing assembly includes providing coiled tubing defining a side wall opening and pulling a capillary tube into the interior of the coiled tubing through the side wall opening. The method further includes attaching the capillary tube to a capillary window of an insert for covering the side wall opening and affixing the insert to the coiled tubing.

Method for making a coiled tubing assembly

A technique provides a cable protector in the form of a modular unit having a protector shell and at least one removable insert. The removable insert is constructed with gaps which are sized to grippingly engage a cable. Accordingly, a properly sized removable insert is selected for use with a given cable and then inserted into the protector shell. The cable protector may then be secured to a tubing, e.g. a well tubing, by an appropriate tubing coupling. In some embodiments, the tubing coupling is coupled about the tubing via a threaded fastener which may be held in place by a back off preventer.

An embodiment of a system for disconnecting a first element from a second element at a desired position in a wellbore includes a disconnect tool containing an expandable material, the disconnect tool being actuatable from a locked position, wherein the first and the second elements are interconnected, to an unlocked position, wherein the first and the second element are disconnected, upon a determined expansion of the expandable material in response to a temperature at the desired position.

A seal assembly that is usable with a well includes a metal body that is adapted to expand radially inwardly and radially outwardly in response to the body being longitudinally compressed between compressing surfaces. The metal body includes first and second surfaces that do not conform to the compressing surfaces before longitudinal compression of the body and are adapted to contact the compressing surfaces.
