A reusable fabric surgical drape such as a cardiovascular drape, for example, having a fenestration to be positioned at a surgical site and one or more slits formed in the drape. Each slit has overlapping edges which are releasably attachable together. The surgical drape may have one such slit extending from the fenestration to an edge of the drape, which, when opened, enables removal of the drape from the patient about any surgical equipment attached to the patient through the fenestration. One or more additional such slits may be formed in the drape and so positioned and shaped as to provide, when opened, reclosable surgical site fenestrations.

A surgical drape having first and second fenestration portions. A flap member affixed to the drape. The flap member having a portion unattached to the drape and provided with a fenestration of the same size and shape as the first fenestration portion of the drape. The unattached flap portion is shiftable between an unfolded covering position and folded uncovering position. In the unfolded covering position the unattached flap portion overlies the first and second drape fenestration portions with the second fenestration portion being covered thereby and with the flap member fenestration overlying and being co-extensive with the drape first fenestration portion. When the unattached flap member portion is in its folded, uncovering position, both of the first and second drape fenestration portions are exposed.

Reusable dual fenestration surgical drape

A reusable surgical drape having a fenestration to be positioned at the surgical site and a trough for collecting liquids which flow from the surgical site. The trough comprises a substantially rectangular panel of liquid repellant fabric having rounded corners and having an opening formed therein corresponding to the drape fenestration. The trough-forming panel is sewn to the drape about the peripheries of their corresponding opening and fenestration. In one embodiment all four sides of the trough-forming panel are folded inwardly toward the fenestration to form liquid receiving and retaining trough segments about the drape fenestration. At each of the corners, where adjacent trough segments meet, the outer peripheral edge of the trough-forming panel is gathered, resulting in a continuous rectangular trough about the fenestration, having substantially rectilinear side segments and rounded corner segments free of seams, stitches, folds or multiple layers. Snaps are provided to maintain the shape of the trough segments. In another embodiment the structure is substantially the same except that only three sides of the trough-forming panel are folded inwardly to form trough segments with rounded gathered corners therebetween. The fourth side is sewn to the drape for a part of its length. Snaps are provided to fold and close those ends of those trough segments adjacent the unfolded fourth side of the trough-forming panel.

Reusable surgical drape with fluid-retaining trough

A surgical drape has a series of retractor tunnels on opposite lateral sides of a fenestration for accommodating a vertically extending rail clamp of a table mounted retractor system. The retractor tunnels are defined by first and second portions of the sides. The first and second sides are secured to each other at longitudinally spaced intervals. The drape has flaps that are selectively movable to a position covering the retractor tunnels whenever they are not in use.

A surgical drive comprises a main panel and a 'critical zone' panel secured thereto. A fenestration is formed by cutting through the 'critical zone' panel. The main panel is a light weight fabric having a relatively high coefficient of friction. The 'critical zone' panel comprises a barrier panel lying against the main panel and an outwardly facing absorbent panel, having an irregular surface. The critical 'critical zone' panel is folded to form troughs for capturing liquid incident to a surgical procedure. Corner constructions close the ends of the troughs.

A fenestrated surgical drape includes a 'critical zone' panel surrounding the fenestration. The 'critical zone' panel comprises an upper absorbent panel and underlying, upper and lower barrier panels. The absorbent layer and upper barrier panel are joined as a first sub-assembly. The lower barrier panel and the main panel of the drape are joined as a second sub-assembly. The sub-assemblies are joined by stitching marginally of the fenestration. The first sub-assembly is then joined to the lower barrier panel by stitching marginally of its outer periphery. The marginal edge portions of the 'critical zone' panel are folded inwardly to form liquid receiving troughs along the side and end edges of the 'critical zone' panel. These troughs intersect at the corners of the 'critical zone' panel. Further folded portions of the 'critical zone' panel close the intersecting ends of the troughs. Snap fastener elements hold the marginal portions of the 'critical zone' in these folded relations. The snap fastener elements are releasable to facilitate laundering of the surgical drape. Tube loops are provided for releasably holding electrical instruments employed in a surgical procedure. The construction of the tube loops protects a patient against electrical shock and/or burns.
