A system including a first dielectric layer comprising a solid material configured to form a first layer of a radome, and a second dielectric layer comprising a solid material configured to form a second layer of the radome. The first dielectric layer and the second dielectric layer are spaced apart to provide an inner gap configured as a third layer of the radome. The inner gap is exclusively filled with a gas. The radome is configured to provide for the radome to be frequency selective. A radome and method are also disclosed.

A system including a first dielectric filter including a plurality of resonators, a second dielectric filter including a plurality of resonators, and a hollow waveguide configured to receive the first dielectric filter or the second dielectric filter by separating the hollow waveguide into at least a first part and a second part. A width of the plurality of resonators matches a width of a groove within the hollow waveguide to allow insertion of the first dielectric filter or the second dielectric filter into the hollow waveguide where sides of the resonators are in contact with inner sides of the groove of the hollow waveguide. System and method for providing an interchangeable dielectric filter within a waveguide

Systems and methods are disclosed for transmitting and receiving RF signals. An exemplary RF transceiver includes a signal generator, a frequency multiplier circuit, a receiver circuit, a transmitter circuit, and a switching device. The signal generator is configured to output a first signal and a second signal. The first signal comprises a local oscillator signal, and a frequency of the second signal is derived from a frequency of the first signal. The frequency multiplier circuit is configured to upconvert the output of the signal generator by frequency multiplication. The receiver circuit is configured to process a received signal using an upconverted first signal, and the transmitter circuit is configured to provide an upconverted second signal to a transmitter channel. The switching device is configured to provide the upconverted first signal to the receiver circuit and the upconverted second signal to the transmitter circuit.

An exemplary apparatus for monitoring power of RF energy includes a transmit/receive switch configured to switch an antenna between a transmitter state and a receiver state. The switch includes a diode. The exemplary apparatus can include an output device configured to monitor voltage across the diode of the switch to detect power of RF energy of the antenna. An exemplary method of monitoring power during transmission or reception of a signal can include placing a transmit/receive switch configured to switch an antenna between a transmitter and a receiver into one of a receiver state or a transmitter state. The exemplary method can include detecting voltage across a diode configured as a switching element in the transmit/receive switch to monitor power, and providing an output indicative of the monitored power.

Radio frequency power monitor

A full duplex communication system is capable of providing actual wireless transmission rates on the order of 125 Mb/s, or higher, with relatively high transmission power on the order of 0.5 to 2 watts (W) or higher, with a high signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio, a bit error rate on the order of 10or lower, 99.99% availability, and with relatively simple circuit designs. A single compact and efficient, low distortion transceiver design is used based on high power (e.g., 0.5 W) monolithic millimeter wave integrated circuits (MMICs), having a compression point which accommodates high speed modems such as OC-3 and 100 Mb/s Fast Ethernet modems used in broadband networking technologies like SONET/SDH (e.g., SONET ring architectures having self-healing ring capability). By applying high power MMIC technology of conventional radar systems to wireless duplex communications, significant advantages can be realized in a fixed wireless spectrum of 18-40 GHz or wider.

Method and apparatus for high frequency wireless communication

The present invention is directed to a method, and associated apparatus, for modifying a radio frequency (RF) response. An exemplary method includes establishing an RF response in a signal path of a device; and controlling an actuator to structurally alter the signal path and dynamically change an impedance of the signal path to alter the RF response.

The present invention is directed to providing a full duplex communication system capable of providing actual wireless transmission rates on the order of 125 Mb/s, or higher, with relatively high transmission power on the order of 0.5 to 2 watts (W) or higher, with a high signal-to-noise(S/N) ratio, a bit error rate on the order of 10 or lower, 99.99% availability, and with relatively simple circuit designs. The present invention is directed to providing an antenna system for transmitting and receiving signals in a manner which eliminates the extensive hardware, high cost and complexity of the transmitter, receiver or transceiver used in conventional systems. Exemplary embodiments are directed to an antenna system which uses electronic beam forming to mathematically synthesize the signals desired for object detection and tracking. Rather than using passive waveguide material having multiple antenna system ports that must be individually processed in separate transceiver channels, exemplary embodiments of the present invention are directed to an antenna system wherein the antenna ports are coupled to a beam forming network of the antenna system. The beam forming network includes a single port that can be coupled to a single transceiver channel. The beam forming network is configured to mathematically synthesize each of the desired signals needed by the transceiver to calculate desired information, such as the azimuth and elevation of an object to be detected and/or tracked (for example, the summed output signal and a difference output signal). The beam forming network can be configured to sequentially produce each of the desired signals. Alternately, the beam forming network can provide desired signals from the transceiver channel to the multiple antenna ports during a transmit operation. Exemplary embodiments are applicable to any systems which involve the use of an antenna systems, including, but not limited to, communication systems and radar applications. Exemplary embodiments can provide any of the functionality typically associated with beam forming antennae including, but not limited to communications such as satellite to ground communications, beam shaping, and beam pointing.
