Packet recovery mechanisms for wireless networks, which improve end-to-end (e2e) reliability, are provided. First embodiments include packet retransmission between a receiver and a transmitter, wherein, if the transmitter cannot find a lost packet in its transmission buffer, the transmitter sends a First Sequence Number (FSN) report to the receiver to notify the receiver of a sequence number (SN) of an oldest (acknowledged) packet in the buffer. In response, the receiver does not report lost packets whose SN is older than the FSN. Second embodiments involve using a network coding algorithm to recover lost packets, wherein the transmitter sends a control message to the receiver that includes a coded packet to be recovered and information for decoding the coded packet. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

The one or more memory devices include instructions, that when executed by the processor, cause the system to detect a stutter or pause in the speech input, predict the stuttered word or the missing word, present a predicted word from an n-best list to the user; and if a prompt is received from the user, present a next word from the n-best list until the user speaks a correct word to replace the stutter or the pause.

A system, method, apparatus and computer readable medium for hierarchical speech recognition resolution. The method of hierarchical speech recognition resolution on a platform includes receiving a speech stream from a microphone. The speech stream is resolved using a lowest possible level automatic speech recognition (ASR) engine of multi-level ASR engines. The selection of the lowest possible level ASR engine is based on policies defined for the platform. If resolution of the speech stream is rated less than a predetermined confidence level, the resolution of the speech stream is pushed to a next higher-level ASR engine of the multi-level ASR engines until the resolution of the speech stream meets the predetermined confidence level without violating one or more policies.

Techniques are provided for QR Decomposition (QRD) based minimum variance distortionless response (MVDR) adaptive beamforming. A methodology implementing the techniques according to an embodiment includes receiving signals from microphone array, identifying signal segments that include a combination of speech and noise, and identifying signal segments that include noise in the absence of speech. The method also includes calculating a QRD and an inverse QRD (IQRD) of the spatial covariance of the noise components. The method further includes estimating a relative transfer function (RTF) associated with the source of the speech, based on the noisy speech signal segments, the QRD, and the IQRD. The method further includes estimating a multichannel speech-presence-probability (SPP) on whitened input signals based on the IQRD. The method further includes calculating beamforming weights, for the microphone array, based on the RTF and the IQRD, to steer a beam in the direction associated with the speech source.

Provided are a method and apparatus for an error tolerance aware data retention scheme in a storage device for multi-scale error tolerant data. A mapping of retention priorities to sectors of the storage units maps higher retention priorities to sectors having a higher retention capability. A data stream and retention metadata for the data stream indicate retention priorities for segments of the data stream. Segments of the data stream having less error tolerance are mapped to higher retention priorities than segments of the data stream having greater error tolerance. The mapping of retention priorities is used to determine a sector having a retention priority matching a retention priority of a segment of the data stream indicated in the retention metadata. The segment of the data stream is stored in the determined sector.

An estimated Mean Opinion Score (eMOS)-based encoder control loop is utilized to determine one or more encoder key performance index (KPI) associated with a particular perceived quality level. A KPI-based encoder control loop is then utilized to guide generation of a hierarchical structure having quality and/or temporal and/or spatial enhancement layers, without recalculating eMOS for the scalable structure. In addition, eMOS is used to guide the generation of a hierarchical structure at best-perceived quality levels for a given bitrate budget. Rate adaptation may occur by dropping segments, changing hierarchical structure, or changing the KPI target values. With the structure scaled as a function of perceived quality, perceived quality is impacted predictably as the encoding rate is adapted.
