Ensuring consistency of data being received by a producer from a collector via a shared memory includes maintaining a time-of-day (TOD) variable, and, by the producer for new data, (1) first setting the TOD variable to an invalid value, (2) next writing the new data into the shared memory with a timestamp, and (3) next setting the TOD variable to a time value corresponding to the timestamp. The method further includes, by the collector for the new data, (1) reading the TOD variable and timestamp and confirming that the TOD variable has a valid time value equal to the timestamp, (2) reading the new data from the shared memory, and (3) confirming validity of the new data by (a) reading the TOD variable again, and (b) confirming that the TOD variable has the same valid time value as in the reading step (1).

Techniques for performing system management may include: defining groups, wherein each group includes one or more systems managed using a management application; selecting a scoping level, wherein the scoping level selected is one of multiple scoping levels including an all systems level, a group level, and an individual system level, wherein selecting the group level includes selecting a particular one of the multiple groups, and wherein selecting the individual system level includes selecting a particular one of the systems managed using the management application; and performing one or more operations in accordance with the scoping level. Information may be displayed in accordance with the selected scoping level. The multiple scoping levels may include multiple levels of groups. Embodiments of the present invention relate to a method and apparatus for adjusting throughput of a storage device. The method comprises setting input/output (I/O) delay time of the storage device to be threshold delay time, the threshold delay time being below initial I/O delay time of the storage device. The method further comprises obtaining measured throughput of the storage device, the measured throughput being associated with the threshold delay time. The method further comprises updating the I/O delay time based on a difference between the measured throughput and a target throughput of the storage device to update the measured throughput.
