Example storage systems, storage controllers, and methods provide data redundancy reconfiguration using logical subunits. Storage devices are configured in a storage group with a first data redundancy configuration. A second data redundancy configuration is selected and the space available in the storage group is determined. For each logical data unit, logical data subunits are selected, written to the space available in the second data redundancy configuration, and deleted from the logical data unit. Storage operations using the storage group may be maintained during the migration process.

Data redundancy reconfiguration using logical subunits

A computer cluster includes a group of connected computers that work together essentially as a single system. Each computer in the cluster is called a node. Each node has a boot device configured to load an image of an operating system into the node's main memory. Sometimes the boot device of a first node experiences a problem that prevents the operating system from loading. This can affect the entire cluster. Some aspects of the disclosure, however, are directed to operations that determine the problem with the first node's boot device based on a communication sent via a first communications network. Further, the operations can communicate to the first node a copy of boot data from a second node's boot device. The copy of the boot data is sent via a second communications network different from the first communications network. The copy of the boot data can solve the first boot device's problem.

Providing boot data in a cluster network environment

A clustered network-based storage system includes a host server, multiple high availability system controller pairs, and multiple storage devices across multiple arrays. Two independent storage array subsystems each include a quorum drive copy and are each controlled by a HA pair, with remote volume mirroring links coupling the separate HA pairs. The host server includes a virtualization agent that identifies and prioritizes communication paths, and also determines capacity across all system nodes. A system storage management agent determines an overall storage profile across the system. The virtualization agent, storage management agent, quorum drive copies and remote volume mirroring link all operate to provide increased redundancy, load sharing, or both between the separate first and second arrays of storage devices.
