Edge device and method for sensor-assisted beamforming

An edge device that includes a processor which obtains sensing information of a surrounding area from one or more external sensing devices in a communication range of the edge device. The processor communicates the sensing information to a central cloud server and obtains wireless connectivity enhanced information from the central cloud server based on the communicated sensing information. The wireless connectivity enhanced information is for a first user equipment (UE) and a second UE. The processor directs a first beam of radio frequency (RF) signal in a first wireless carrier network to the first UE and a second beam of RF signal in a second wireless carrier network to the second UE based on the obtained wireless connectivity enhanced information for the first UE and the second UE.

Edge device and method for handling service for multiple service providers

A communication system includes a plurality of edge devices comprising a first edge device. The first edge device fires a plurality of first beams from a donor antenna array based on different first beam indexes and fires a plurality of second beams from one or more relay antenna arrays based on different second beam indexes. The first edge device measures signal strength of each fired beam, identifies a donor beam index and one or more relay beam indexes based on the measured signal strengths exceeding a threshold, establishes a first communication link to an upstream neighboring node based on the identified donor beam index, creates one or more second communication links to one or more downstream neighboring nodes based on the identified relay beam indexes, and creates a mesh network of the plurality of edge devices based on the established communication links.

Communication system and method for operating a 5G mesh network for service continuity

An edge device that includes first antenna arrays at donor side and second antenna arrays at service side of the edge device, and a processor that obtains wireless connectivity enhanced information from a central cloud server based on a position of the edge device, where the wireless connectivity enhanced information is provided for a first user equipment (UE) and a second UE, and includes selected initial access information to accelerate a UE-specific beam alignment for each of the first UE and the second UE and connectivity to a corresponding base station from the edge device bypassing an initial access-search on the edge device. The processor receives a first donor beam associated with a first wireless carrier network (WCN) from a first base station, and receives a second donor beam associated with a second WCN from a second base station via the one or more first antenna arrays.

An edge device includes an antenna array and a sensor that senses a surrounding area of the edge device. A communication system includes a first edge device that obtains timing information at a first time instant from a radio access network (RAN) node or a central cloud server. The timing information is indicative of a unique system frame number or a sub-frame of the unique system frame number that is to be received at the first edge device. The first edge device detects the unique system frame number or the sub-frame of the unique system frame number at a second time instant. The first edge device executes a switching event in which a new communication link is established with a second edge device neighboring the first edge device. The new communication link corresponds to a change triggered in a mesh network to maintain a continuity in uplink and downlink communication between one or more UEs and the RAN node via the mesh network.

A communication apparatus that includes an antenna array comprising a plurality of antenna elements, a plurality of thermoelectric devices distributed across the plurality of antenna element of the antenna array, each of the plurality of thermoelectric devices covers a different subset of a plurality of subsets of the plurality of antenna elements, and a processor coupled to the antenna array and the plurality of thermoelectric devices. An edge device that includes one or more first antenna arrays at a donor side of the edge device, and one or more second antenna arrays at a service side of the edge device. The edge device obtains wireless connectivity enhanced information from a central cloud server. The edge device receives a first donor beam associated with a first wireless carrier network (WCN) from a first base station via the one or more first antenna arrays and receives a second donor beam associated with a second WCN from a second base station. The edge device receives two or more time division duplex (TDD) patterns from two or more base stations of different service providers, finds a common TDD pattern for the received two or more TDD patterns, and follows the common TDD pattern for switching RF signals between different WCNs of different service providers for uplink and downlink communication.

A road-side unit (RSU) device receives a first request from a vehicle that moves along a travel path. The vehicle includes an edge device. A second request is communicated to an inference server based on the received first request. The second request includes an input feature corresponding to sensing information of the vehicle. A response is received from the inference server based on the communicated second request. The response includes wireless connectivity enhanced information including specific initial access information, and the specific initial access information enables the RSU devices to bypass an initial access search on the RSU device, and direct at least one specific beam of radio frequency (RF) signal to the edge device of the vehicle based on the wireless connectivity enhanced information.

Communication system and method for high-reliability low-latency wireless connectivity in mobility application

Provided is a communication system that includes a road-side unit (RSU) device. The RSU device receives a first connection request from a vehicle as the vehicle moves along a travel path, communicates a first request to an inference server based on the received first connection request, receives a response from the inference server based on the communicated first request. The response includes specific initial access information that enables the RSU device to bypass an initial access search. The RSU device, directs one or more specific beams of radio frequency (RF) signals to service a first edge device of one or more edge devices of the vehicle on a basis of the received response, and dynamically partition one or more antenna arrays at a service side of the RSU device into a plurality of sub-arrays to establish independent communication channels with a plurality of vehicles including the vehicle.
