In a first embodiment a method includes the steps of (a) entering n numeric characters from a keypad; (b) detecting the entry of the n.sup.th numeric character; and (c) storing n-1 of the entered characters in a multi-location telephone number memory at a location specified by the n.sup.th numeric character. In one embodiment the step of detecting includes a step of detecting that a keypad key used to enter the n.sup.th numeric character is depressed for an amount of time that exceeds a predetermined duration, while in another embodiment the step of detecting includes a step of detecting that a keypad key used to enter the n.sup.th numeric character is depressed a plurality of times within a period that is less than a predetermined duration. In a further embodiment the step (c) stores a first n-m of the entered characters in a multi-location telephone number memory, where m is equal to or greater than one, at a location specified by the m.sup.th character or characters. In a still further embodiment the step (c) stores a first n-m of the entered characters in a specified location of a specified one of a plurality of multi-location telephone number memories, wherein m is greater than one, and wherein both the location and the multi-location telephone number memory are specified by the m.sup.th characters.

An antenna rod, comprises an antenna lead passing inside the rod and a layer of polymer material outside the antenna lead. The antenna rod has improved characteristic features because the antenna lead has been immersed into the polymer material layer. The antenna rod is produced by inserting the antenna lead longitudinally in a cavity of a casting mold, which is substantially of the shape of the antenna rod and thereafter encapsulating the antenna lead with a polymer material layer. The antenna lead can be reinforced for casting by joining it with a support structure by winding the lead to form a helical coil around the support structure.

A frame construction for a radio telephone or the operating device of a radio telephone. The radio telephone comprises a frame on which printed circuit boards containing telephone electronics are secured on both sides of a substantially flat, electrically conductive frame plate. The frame plate together with ground foils of the printed circuit boards form EMI-shielding for the components located on the sides of the printed circuit boards which face the frame plate. The frame plate preferably has a raised edge to which a printed circuit board is secured. Radio telephone housing parts are located on the two sides of the frame plate to form the radio telephone housing.
