According to an example aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method, comprising: transmitting an association request from a wireless device to a first access node of a wireless network for associating the wireless device to the wireless network, wherein the wireless network comprises a centralized unit and a plurality of access nodes, including the first access node, receiving an association response from the first access node for associating the wireless device to the wireless network, performing carrier sensing on a plurality of channels; selecting a second access node among the plurality of access nodes in response to obtaining a transmission opportunity for a channel of the plurality of channels, wherein the selecting is based at least partly on a record of ongoing transmission opportunities, and transmitting data from the wireless device to the second access node during the transmission opportunity.

Wireless access establishment

This specification relates to estimation of a location of a mobile device using one or more locator devices. In a first aspect, this specification describes an apparatus comprising: means for receiving, from a set of locator devices at known locations, each locator device comprising an antenna array, bearing measurements indicative of one or more bearings from the antenna array of each of the plurality of locator devices to a mobile device; means for estimating a position of the mobile device using the known location of each locator device and the bearing measurements from each locator device; means for determining, for each of the bearing measurements, an error based on the bearing measurement and the estimated position of the mobile device; means for identifying one or more bearing measurements having an error in excess of a threshold; and means for re-estimating the position of the mobile device such that the contribution of the identified one or more bearing measurements to the re-estimated position is reduced.

Positioning system and method

This specification relates to estimation of a location of a mobile device using one or more locator devices. This specification describes an apparatus comprising: means for receiving, from one or more locator devices, each locator device comprising an antenna array, information indicative of a bearing from the antenna array of each of the one or more locator devices to a mobile device; means for determining parameters of a Kent distribution for each of the one or more locator devices based on the received information and predetermined characteristics of the antenna array; and means for determining an estimated position of the mobile device by performing an optimisation process on an objective function that is dependent on the Kent distribution parameters for each of the one or more locator devices.

Location estimation

Inter-alia, a method is disclosed comprising: obtaining, for at least one reference position, an estimate of a representative direction from a node of a communication network to the at least one reference position based on information indicative of at least one directional measurement, the directional measurement being indicative at least of a propagation direction of a signal communicated between the at least one reference position and the node of the communication network; obtaining, for the at least one reference position, a weighted estimate of the representative direction based on at least an angular weighting function for the at least one reference position, the angular weighting function being representative at least of an aperture of at least one antenna of the node of the communication network; and obtaining information indicative at least of an orientation and/or position of the node of the communication network at least based on the weighted estimate of the representative direction obtained for the at least one reference position.

Positioning system deployment

This document discloses a solution for detecting a transmission opportunity. According to an aspect, a method comprises as performed by an apparatus of a first wireless network: detecting a first transmission from a first apparatus of a second wireless network different from the first wireless network; transmitting, to a second apparatus of the first wireless network, a transmission mode request, wherein the transmission mode request indicates a request to transmit from the apparatus to the second apparatus at least during an interframe space of a transmission opportunity between the first apparatus and another apparatus of the second wireless network, receiving a transmission mode response from the second apparatus, wherein the transmission mode response indicates acceptance of the request; in response to detecting a second transmission from the first apparatus, transmitting a data frame during an interframe space following the second transmission.
