A hydrometer device according to an example includes a floating waterproof device container, and a liquid level sensor positioned in the device container to sense an immersion level of the device container when the device container is floating in a container of liquid. The hydrometer device further includes a conversion circuit positioned in the device container to convert the sensed immersion level to a digital value, and a controller positioned in the device container to determine a liquid density value for the liquid based on the digital value.

Hydrometer device

Measured signal data, detected by a sensor array of a device, is used to create a generated representation from the measured signal data. The generated representation is compared with a measured representation of the measured signal data to create a correlation coefficient corresponding to a correlation between the generated representation and the measured representation of the measured signal data. A hover event is detected for the device if the correlation coefficient exceeds a first threshold. If the correlation coefficient does not exceed the first threshold, then the measured signal data is determined to not be indicative of a hover event.

Hover detection for touchscreens

A capacitance sensing device includes a transmit (TX) generator for generating a sequence of receive (RX) signals by applying each TX signal pattern in a sequence of TX signal patterns to a set of sensor electrodes. For each TX signal pattern in the sequence of TX signal patterns, and for each subset of three or more contiguous sensor electrodes of the set of sensor electrodes, the TX generator applies to the subset one of a first excitation signal and a second excitation signal. The plurality of subsets includes at least half of the sensor electrodes in the set of sensor electrodes. The capacitance sensing device also includes a sequencer circuit coupled with the TX generator. For each TX signal pattern in the sequence of TX signal patterns, the sequencer circuit determines a next subsequent TX signal pattern in the sequence based on a circular rotation of the TX signal pattern. The capacitance sensing device also includes a processing block coupled with the TX generator. The processing block detects a presence of an object proximate to the set of sensor electrodes based on a measure of correlation between the sequence of RX signals and a predetermined function.

Hover sensing with multi-phase self-capacitance method

Apparatuses and methods of high-distance directional proximity sensors are described. One apparatus includes at least three electrodes in a sensor layer, an electrode in a shield layer, and an insulator located between the layers. A processing device is configured to scan the at least three electrodes over a period of time to obtain a digital signal for each of the at least three electrodes while driving a shield signal on the electrode of the shield layer. The processing device detects a gesture by an object using the digital signals. The processing device measures an amplitude value of the digital signal for each of the at least three electrodes and outputs an indication of the gesture responsive to a ratio of a highest amplitude value and a lowest amplitude value satisfying a first threshold criterion that represents the object being within a proximity detection area above the sensor layer.

High-distance directional proximity sensor

An example method of determining the position value reflecting an action applied to the capacitive sensor device comprises: receive a set of capacitance values of a plurality of capacitive cells of a capacitive sensor device; determining a local maximum of the set of capacitance values; identifying a set of neural network parameters corresponding to the local maximum of the set of capacitance values; and processing the set of capacitance values by a neural network using the identified set of neural network parameters to determine a position value reflecting an action applied to the capacitive sensor device.

Machine learning-based position determination

A method performs a scan operation for a single-layer sensor array that includes transmit (TX) electrodes and receive (RX) electrodes. The method includes determining whether to include a signal value for an RX electrode in a computation of a slope parameter value for a TX electrode. The method computes an index sum based on an index of the RX electrode when the signal value for the RX electrode is included in the computation of the slope parameter value for the TX electrode. The method computes a signal sum based on the signal value for the RX electrode when the signal value for the RX electrode is included in the computation of the slope parameter value for the TX electrode. The method then computes the slope parameter value for the TX electrode based on the signal sum and the index sum.

Scanning a single-layer capacitive sense array

The capacitance sensing array comprising a plurality of nodes corresponding to intersections of a first plurality of electrodes with a second plurality of electrodes may be scanned. Capacitance values associated with one or more of the nodes may be measured. The capacitance values may be representative of a touch object proximate to the one or more of the nodes. A peak capacitance value of the capacitance values of one or more of the nodes may be identified. A set of capacitance values comprising cells based on the peak capacitance value may be generated. A portion of the cells of the set are associated with the nodes corresponding to the intersections of the first plurality of electrodes with the second plurality of electrodes and at least one of the cells of the set is associated with a virtual node that does not correspond to the intersections.

Contact identification and tracking on a capacitance sensing array

A method calculates a correction factor for one or more of capacitance sensors and generates a current from a mutual capacitance of one of the capacitance sensors. The method applies the correction factor to the generated current to generate a corrected current and converts the corrected current to a digital value. The method determines a position of one or more conductive objects in proximity to the one or more capacitance sensors based on the digital value.

Gain correction for fast panel scanning

Techniques for eliminating tail effect are described herein. In an example embodiment, a device comprises a sensor coupled with a processing logic. The sensor is configured to measure a plurality of measurements from a sensor array when the sensor array is in an unsettled state, where the measurements represent a conductive object that is proximate to a touch-sensing surface of the sensor array. The processing logic is configured to determine a set of adjustment values that correspond to a tail effect associated with the plurality of measurements, and to generate adjusted measurements corresponding to the plurality of measurements based on the set of adjustment values.

Method and apparatus for eliminating tail effect in touch applications

Techniques for correcting tail effect are described herein. In an example embodiment, a device comprises a sensor coupled with a processing logic. The sensor is configured to measure a plurality of measurements from a sensor array, where the measurements are representative of a conductive object that is in contact with or proximate to the sensor array. The sensor array comprises RX electrodes and TX electrodes that are interleaved without intersecting each other in a single layer on a substrate of the sensor array. The processing logic is configured to determine a set of adjustment values that correspond to a tail effect associated with the measurements, and to generate adjusted measurements based on the set of adjustment values, where the adjusted measurements correct a parasitic signal change of the tail effect.

Tail effect correction for SLIM pattern touch panels

A method of tracking touches at a touch-sensing surface may include, detecting an initial location of a first contact and an initial location of a second contact at the touch-sensing surface based on a first scan of a touch-sensing surface, detecting a plurality of signal levels caused by the first contact and the second contact during a second scan of the touch-sensing surface, identifying a first signal level of the plurality of signal levels as a local maximum, and locating a lost touch based on one or more signal levels associated with one or more unit cells within a fixed distance from a first unit cell associated with the local maximum.

An example capacitive sensor arrangement includes an integrated member residing within an interior region of a capacitive sensor element. The capacitive sensor element has a first resistance to a flow of current and the integrated member has a second resistance to the flow of current that is less than the first resistance.

Methods and apparatus to determine position error of a calculated position

A technique for providing reliable position calculations for conductive inputs at the edges of a touch-sensitive array is disclosed. A matrix of sensors is completed using virtual sensors or nodes, allowing for a closer approximation of position of a conductive object. The matrix may be defined by a center point or sensor and a number of surrounding nodes or sensors.
