Gaseous fueling systems and methods are provided for dispensing fuel to a vehicle or container. The distribution systems speed up the filling process and may eliminate the use of expensive cooling systems required in the art. The methods utilize sequences of filling and emptying the vehicle gas storage tank to control the temperature of the gas inside the tank. The methods repeatedly dispense fuel to the vehicle fuel tank at a first flow rate and for a first period of time and remove fuel from the fuel tank at a second flow rate for a second period to maintain fuel temperature within a desired temperature range and until the vehicle fuel tank is filled to a desired level. In addition, the fill-up mass flowrate can be maximized to system capabilities so a fill-up can be can be completed in about one minute.

Gas fueling systems and methods with minimum and/or no cooling

Methods and systems for producing hydrogen from methane or other fuels that has lower input heat requirements than conventional steam reformation schemes are provided. The system has a reactor with a controlled feed of fuel, water/steam, CO and recycle gases. The methods generally use significantly high amounts of steam (water) and carbon monoxide (CO) in the feed that substantially enhances the reaction rate of the water-gas shift reaction, which transforms CO and HO to COand H. Since this reaction is exothermic, its enhancement alters the endothermic nature of the overall reforming process to the point where the overall reforming process is no longer endothermic. The CO requirements may be met in part with the reverse water-gas shift reaction from COproduced by the reactor. The lower heat requirements may be satisfied with renewable sources such as solar or from hydrogen produced by the system.

Energetically enhanced reforming process

A novel thermochemical cycle for the decomposition of water is presented. Along with water, hydrogen, and oxygen, the cycle involves an alkali or alkali earth metal based process intermediate and a variety of reaction intermediates. The cycle is driven by renewable energy sources, and can have a maximum operating temperature below 1173 K (900&#xb0; C.). The kinetics of the cycle are based on the reactant behavior as well as the separability characteristics of the chemicals involved.

Hydrogen production by a thermochemical water splitting cycle

A conduction-cooled superconducting power transmission cable wherein a High-Temperature Superconducting (HTS) wire is surrounded by an inner layer of thermal insulator, one or more layers of high thermal conductivity material, such as copper, and an outer layer of thermal insulator with cryogenic coolant sources distributed along the power transmission cable and coupled to the copper layers or both the copper layers and the HTS wire. The cryogenic coolant sources can be reservoirs, a distribution system of coolant or stand alone refrigeration systems. He Hor Nliquid coolant can be used. A method for calculating the parameters to maintain the critical temperature of the HTS wire and a method for calculating the cool down time from ambient conditions are disclosed.
