A method and device for detection of drowsiness of a person, based on a relationship between distal temperature and heart rate and on a balance between body heat loss and body heat production, wherein the distal temperature in a predetermined distal region of the person is monitored as a measure for body heat loss, and the heart rate of the person is monitored as a measure for body heat production, wherein drowsiness in the immediate future is concluded when a change of distal temperature passes a first threshold and, subsequently, a change of the heart rate passes a second threshold or, subsequently, the change of the distal temperature is larger than the change of the heart rate.

Method and device for accurate real-time detection of drowsiness in operators using physiological responses

We here describe an exercise system and control method thereof to obtain exercise protocols relating to the individual user's optimal exercise intensity. The system and method comprise the monitoring of the transition between the aerobic and anaerobic training zones and an estimate of the maximal lactate steady state, which is an important physiological indicator of the user's cardio respiratory fitness. Together with individual models of how the user's heart rate responds to exercise intensity, it is possible to predict the needed exercise intensity that should be performed to obtain the wanted exercise goal. The analysis can (preferably) be performed in real-time during exercise.

Method and device for monitoring stress of an individual in a moving structure by estimating and monitoring a mental component of a total heart rate of the individual, wherein the total heart rate comprises the mental component, a mechanical component, a component relating to heat balance and a component relating to basic metabolic functions, wherein the total heart rate and movements of the individual and the moving structure are measured in real-time, wherein the mechanical component is estimated in real-time based on the real-time movement of the individual and the moving structure, wherein the mental component is obtained by subtracting the mechanical component, the component relating to the heat balance and the component relating to basic metabolic functions from the total heart rate.
