An electrical connector of the split cylinder type for terminating or connecting an electrical wire comprising an elongated tubular sleeve section, an elongated wire receiving slot, a flared entryway leading into the wire receiving slot and a wire retaining means for temporarily retaining the electrical wire within the flared entryway in position for termination or connection within the wire receiving slot.

Electrical connector

A connector panel for terminating and/or cross-connecting telecommunications or data transmission circuits including a base having a first set of connector receiving openings, a plurality of connectors adapted for connection with the base, a connector retaining member having a second set of connector receiving openings, and elements for securing the connector retaining member and the base together.

Connector panel

An electrical connector module adapted for use in an access member to provide access to a circuit. The module includes an insulated housing surrounding a connector element and the housing includes a pair of side walls with edges forming a wire gripping slot. The module has particular advantages when arranged in an array to provide access to a plurality of circuits. The invention also relates to an improved connector element usable in connection with the electrical connector module.

Electrical connector module

An electrical connector primarily designed for use in telecommunications and other applications where quick and reliable wire connections in great magnitude are required is disclosed. The connector has a elongated cylindrical shape with an insulation displacement slot running parallel to its longitudinal axis. It is surrounded by and mounted in a sheltering insulating housing. Adjacent the insulation displacement slot on opposite sides of the conductor are V-shaped or other shaped slots which in combination with the insulation displacement slot, form cantilever beams which act independently of the flexing of the cylinder itself. This creates a modified spring rate in the area where connecting wires are held after they are inserted longitudinally into the insulation displacement slot and moved to a final connection position. Transverse slots on opposite sides of the insulation displacement slot create pairs of independent cantilever beams which are staggered from one another to allow mounting of at least two wires of different cross-sectional diameter.

An electrical connector of the split cylinder type for terminating or connecting an electrical wire comprising an elongated tubular sleeve section, an elongated wire receiving slot, a flared entryway leading into the wire receiving slot and a wire retaining means comprising a wire retention groove with a neck portion of reduced width for temporarily retaining the electrical wire within the flared entryway in position for termination or connection within the wire receiving slot.
