Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A regulatory node may maintain bidirectional communications between potential aggressor nodes and potential victim nodes to enable compliance with power regulations of a given environment. For example, the regulatory node may obtain equivalent isotropic radiated power (EIRP) information corresponding to an environment in which a first node is located, where the EIRP information may include respective permissible EIRP levels over a range of angles relative to the environment. The regulatory node may monitor during a first duration, an EIRP level of a set of beams of the first node over the range of angles in accordance with the EIRP information. As such, the regulatory node may output a first compliance report associated with the first time duration, where the first compliance report indicates whether one or more of the beams conforms to the EIRP information.

Techniques for equivalent isotropic radiated power conformance verification by a regulatory node

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network node, one or more downlink reference signals during a beam training procedure. The UE may estimate, based at least in part on one or more metrics associated with the one or more downlink reference signals received during the beam training procedure, a covariance matrix associated with multiple candidate beam quads used to transmit or receive the one or more downlink reference signals. The UE may select, from among the multiple candidate beam quads, a beam quad that corresponds to a group of four beams to optimize one or more parameters associated with the covariance matrix. The UE may communicate with the network node using the selected beam quad. Numerous other aspects are described.

Beam quad selection for four-layer millimeter wave transmissions

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for a beam refinement procedure. According to certain aspects, a method for wireless communications by a receive node generally includes receiving, from a transmit node, a configuration indicating channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) resources and an indication of at least one receive beam for the receive node to use for measuring CSI-RS transmitted on the CSI-RS resources and transmitting, to the transmit node, a report indicating a value generated using a function that combines measurements taken on the CSI-RS resources.

Bidirectional channel statistics-based beam refinement

A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) and related apparatus are provided. In the method, the UE receives, from a network entity, a first set of reference signals associated with a first number of available antenna elements on the UE, and selects, based on the first set of reference signals, a second number of selected antenna elements from the first number of available antenna elements. The second number may be smaller than the first number. The UE further communicates data via the second number of the antenna elements based on a set of beam weights. The set of beam weights may be based on a second set of reference signals generated based on the second number of selected antenna elements.

Determining optimal beam weights to be used over an antenna subset

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first wireless device may receive control signaling indicating a channel state information reference signal-resource indicator (CRI) for beam reporting, and receive a set of channel state information reference signals (CSI-RSs) in accordance with the CRI. The first wireless device may transmit a beam report indicating a first and second beamforming configurations associated with the CRI, where the first beamforming configuration is associated with an antenna module at the first wireless device, and where the second beamforming configuration is associated with the antenna module and one or more passive devices configured to reflect signal energy to or from the antenna module. The first wireless device may then communicate one or more messages with the second wireless device in accordance with the first beamforming configuration, the second beamforming configuration, or both.

Techniques for beamforming reporting using active intelligent reflective surface emulations within a user equipment

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first device may transmit, to a second device, an indication of a sequence of beam training phases that are to be used in a requested beam training procedure between the first device and the second device. The sequence of beam training phases may be selected based on interference measurements performed by the first device, various user exposure metrics, device mobility, power consumption, among other metrics. The second device may receive the indication from the first device, and may transmit a response message to the first device that acknowledges the sequence of beam training phases for the requested beam training procedure. Both the first device and the second device may perform the requested beam training procedure by communicating information via one or more communication beams, which may include performing the sequence of beam training phases indicated by the first device.

Bi-directional beam refinement coordination for wireless systems

Techniques for wireless communication are described. A device may generate a channel covariance matrix using a quantity of beams that is less than a quantity of elements of the channel covariance matrix. The device may utilize a scheme for selecting a subset of beams for generating the channel covariance matrix. The device may generate one or more diagonal elements of the channel covariance matrix based on measurements of a first number of beams of the subset. The device may generate other elements of the channel covariance matrix based on measurements of a second number of beams of the subset. The device may also approximate one or more remaining elements of the channel covariance matrix based on the generated elements. The device may determine a set of beams for selecting the subset of beams, and may communicate beamformed signaling via a beam that is based on the generated channel covariance matrix.

Techniques for speedy determination of adaptive beam weights

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described, including detection of whether a first wireless device is location within a near-field distance of a second wireless device. The first wireless device measures phases of reference signals received at first antenna array of the first antenna array from a second antenna array of the second wireless device. The first wireless device determines, based on the phases, the values of quadratic terms associated with an equation for calculating the distance between a first antenna of the first antenna array and the center of the first antenna array or for calculating the distance between a second antenna of the second antenna array and the center of the second antenna array. The first wireless device determines, based on the quadratic terms, whether the first wireless device is within the near-field distance of the second wireless device.

Detection of near-field location for wireless communications

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit an indication of a recommendation (e.g., a preference) between a set of periodic channel state information reference signals (P-CSI-RS) and a set of aperiodic channel state information reference signals (AP-CSI-RS). For example, the recommendation may be based on conditions at the UE or capabilities of the UE. Based on the indication of the recommendation the UE may receive, from a network entity, control signaling granting the set of AP-CSI-RS or configuring the set of P-CSI-RS. Based on the control signaling and the granted or configured set, the UE may monitor for, and the network entity may transmit, the set of AP-CSI-RS or the set of P-CSI-RS.

Techniques for signaling periodic and aperiodic channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) configuration preference

Wireless communications systems, apparatuses, and methods are provided. A method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving, from a wireless communication device located at a first distance from the UE, a plurality of reference signals associated with determining a set of phase values corresponding to antenna elements of an antenna array for reception operations, determining a first set of calibration adjustment coefficients associated with the set of phase values, and transmitting, to a network unit located at a second distance from the UE, a communication signal with phase values based on a second set of calibration adjustment coefficients, wherein the second set of calibration adjustment coefficients are based on the first set of calibration adjustment coefficients and a distance adjustment factor based on the first and second distances of the wireless communication device and the network unit from the UE, respectively.

Near-field measurements for far-field calibration of antenna arrays

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support use of minimum effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP) constraints with lower precision phase shifters and/or amplitude control. In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes obtaining one or more system performance parameters from a serving network entity, wherein the one or more system performance parameters includes a minimum EIRP for uplink transmissions, calculating an estimated EIRP for one or more candidate uplink transmission configurations of the UE, selecting an uplink transmission configuration of the one or more candidate uplink transmission configuration in response to the estimated EIRP corresponding to the uplink transmission configuration meeting the minimum EIRP, and sending the uplink transmissions according to the uplink transmission configuration.
