A method for treating a heavy metal-contaminated solid, semi-solid, liquid or gaseous matrix, comprising contacting the matrix with an inorganic-sulfur containing material selected from the group consisting of magnesium sulfite, calcium magnesium sulfite, and mixtures thereof as well as with scrubber magnesium product.

Method and compositions for stabilization of heavy metals, acid gas removal and pH control in contaminated matrices

A one-step method and compositions for stabilization of heavy metals, acid gas removal and pH control in hazardous and toxic solid, semi-solid, liquid and/or gaseous matrices using a mixture of reactive agents in a single product, for the broader purpose of enhancing environmental pollution control, prevention and remediation are described. The product contains sulfonated calcium aluminum magnesium phosphate. This material may be used alone or in combination with magnesium sulfite and/or hydroboracite.

A composition comprising magnesium sulfite, triple super phosphate, and one of limestone and hydroboracite, useful for heavy metal stabilizing, controlling pH and/or removing acid gas from a solid, semi-solid, liquid or gaseous matrix.

Method and compositions for stabilization of heavy metals, acid gas

A process utilizing a reactive exothermic liquid-inorganic solid hybrid, for the treatment of in-situ waste materials and in-process hazardous materials, including organic materials having contained therein polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). The process makes possible the utilization of heat from exothermic reactions for breaking down PCBs in particular.

Reactive exothermic liquid - inorganic solid hybrid process

An inorganic composition for use as a fire- and flame-retardant additive to cellulose fiber thermal insulation, consisting essentially of 10 to 25 parts by weight of alumina trihydrate, 20 to 35 parts by weight of ammonium sulfate, 20 to 35 parts by weight of borax, 10 to 20 parts by weight of boric acid, up to 25 parts by weight of nepheline syenite, and up to 2 parts by weight of soda ash. Loadings of 12% to 18% by weight of the additive, based on the weight of the insulation, provide fire- and flame-retardant characteristics, non-corrosiveness, smoke suppression, and moisture absorption values within the limits prescribed by federal specificatons. The composition is also effective in mold inhibition and vermin control, and has relatively low density.

Fire- and flame-retardant composition

In a glow plug igniter of the type used in internal combustion engines, having a hollow cylindrical casing and a central pin-terminal, a substantially flat-spiral-coiled, flexible resistance element, oriented perpendicularly to said pin-terminal with one end electrically connected to the casing and the other to the pin-terminal, is positioned at a nose end of the casing and spaced from but close to a backing seal of temperature and corrosion-resistant material. At least one seal hermetically closes the hollow casing. Preferably, spaced glass seals constitute the sole means for mounting the pin in the body.

Glow plug

In a glow plug igniter of the type used in internal combustion engines, having a hollow cylindrical casing and a central pin-terminal, a substantially flat-spiral-coiled resistance element, flexible in a direction out of its plane, oriented perpendicularly to the pin-terminal with one end electrically connected to the casing and the other to the pin-terminal, is positioned at a nose end of the casing and spaced from a backing seal of temperature and corrosion-resistant, electrically insulating material hermetically closing the hollow casing. An idle bar of substantial width relative to the resistance element, bridges across the nose end of the casing, spaced from the resistance element. Preferably, the casing is crenellated, with opposed merlons, provided with weld projections, to which the ends of the idle bar are welded.
