Methods and systems for providing data to a mobile device from multiple access points are described. The system may include multiple access points (APs) in communication with each other to form a network of APs. The network of APs may include a logical AP (LAP) that is discoverable as an individual physical access point by a mobile device, even though the LAP may be a logical construction involving multiple physical APs that communicate with the mobile device. The system may synchronize operations within the network of APs for effective and efficient data transmissions. The mobile device may request a data connection from the LAP or from an individual AP, wherein the data connection is between at least two APs. The data connection may have a throughput/bandwidth exceeding the maximum capacity of individual APs. The LAP may manage connections between the APs and connections between the mobile device and the APs.

Coordinated beamforming

A plurality of communication links are established between a user device and a base station. The user device may determine if one or more criteria are satisfied and may reconfigure one or more of the plurality of communication links, based on the one or more criteria.

Reconfiguring MIMO communication links

An electronic device has a first and second radio, each being compatible with at least two wireless local area network (LAN) standards and one or both being compatible with at least one wireless personal area network (WPAN) standard. The electronic device includes a radio control arrangement that establishes mutually non-interfering communication links between (i) one or both of the first and second radio and (ii) at least two remote devices within a wireless LAN that includes the electronic device and the at least two remote devices. The at least two remote devices include at least one network access point and at least a second electronic device; the mutually non-interfering communication links including a network communication link between the first or second radio and the access point, and a peer-to-peer communication link between the first radio or the second radio and the second electronic device.

Dual radio architecture for an electronic device operable in a wireless local area network

A first device obtains first audio from one or more microphones. The first device generates a first audio signal from the first audio. The first device analyzes the first audio signal to determine noise associated with the first audio. The first device receives a second audio signal from a second device, and processes the second audio signal based at least in part on the determined noise by identifying one or more frequencies of the second audio signal that are between 1-2 Kilohertz. The first device then outputs a modified second audio signal to a speaker.

Adjusting audio signals based on a specific frequency range associated with environmental noise characteristics

One or more microphones of a first devices receive a first audio. The first device generates a first audio signal from the received first audio. The first device analyzes the first audio signal to determine noise characteristics included in the first audio received by the first device. The first device generates noise compensation information based at least in part on the noise associated with the first audio. The first device transmits the noise compensation information to at least one of a second device or a third device that is intermediate to the first device and the second device. The first device receives a second audio signal generated by the second device, wherein the second audio signal is based at least in part on the noise compensation information transmitted by the first device. The first device then outputs the second audio signal to a speaker of the first device.

Transmission of noise compensation information between devices

A mobility module receives sensor data from one or more sensors and determines the movement of type of movement of a user device, based on the sensor data. Based on the movement or rate of movement, the mobility module transitions the user device to a mobility state. The user device evaluates the power levels of radio signals from neighbor base stations using one or more measurement parameters that are scaled of offset based on the mobility state.

Determining mobility states for a user device

Methods and systems for preventing a user device from exceeding a transmit power budget when a presence of an object is detected are described. A user device detects a presence of object that absorbs electromagnetic radiation, and in response to detection of the human body part, the user device determines a remaining amount of a transmit power budget of the user device, and calculates an amount of data that can be transmitted without exceeding the remaining amount. The user device transmits the second data at the specified transmit power level according to the calculated amount of data.

Proximity based algorithms to control transmit power of a user device

Methods and systems for selecting a number of requests for transmission information by a user device when a presence of an object is detected are described. A user device detects a presence of object that absorbs electromagnetic radiation, and in response, selects a number of requests for transmission of additional information. The user device transmits the additional information at the specified transmit power level using the selected number of scheduled requests when the presence of the object is detected.

Computing devices can utilize various low power wakeup transceivers in order to control functional states of various components of those devices. Each transceiver can broadcast a beacon including appropriate information, which can be received by any other device with a transceiver that is within a propagation range of the beacon. A transceiver receiving the beacon can cause the received beacon to be analyzed by appropriate decision logic, which can determine any appropriate functionality to be activated or otherwise contacted in response to the beacon. In at least some embodiments, the beacon can cause another type of communication channel to be activated to establish communications with a device from which the beacon was received. In this way, the communications channel can be established without having to leave the channel active or manually activate that channel.
