Methods and systems are provided for dynamically adjusting broadcast beam patterns of a wavefront emitted by an antenna array based on the types of devices communicatively coupled to the base station associated with the antenna array. The broadcast beam patterns can be adjusted by modifying the broadcast mode or at least one phase, amplitude, or power of the at least one antenna associated with the base station. Adjusting the beam pattern, for example between multiple beams and a single unified beam, based on device types can improve the quality of service for the devices and reduce the processing burden of the base station.

Dynamic radio architecture beam pattern control

Systems and methods are provided for dynamically modifying beamforming weights based on MU-MIMO user device pairings. A quantity of MU-MIMO user device pairings served by a node is determined. Based on a maximum quantity of potential MU-MIMO user device pairings for the node, it is determined that a quantity of the MU-MIMO user device pairings for the node is below a threshold. Because the quantity of the MU-MIMO user device pairings is below the threshold, beamforming weights are modified to widen a vertical main lobe to increase the quantity of MU-MIMO user device pairings.

In an example implementation, a method includes determining a first count defining how many user equipment devices (UEs) are connected with the access node and do not support a split-uplink-mode operation in which uplink user-plane data flow is split between air-interface transmission to the access node and air-interface transmission to another access node. Further, the method includes determining a second count defining how many UEs are connected with the access node as part of dual connectivity and support the split-uplink-mode operation. And the method includes, based on the first count and the second count, controlling whether the access node will allow the split-uplink-mode operation, such as whether the access node will allow new activation of the split-uplink-mode operation.

A method and system to control carrier aggregation in a wireless communication system including a first access node and a second access node, where the first access node has a first respective backhaul connection, where the second access node has a second respective backhaul connection, where the first access node supports serving user equipment devices (UEs) with standalone connectivity, and where the first and second access nodes cooperatively support serving UEs with dual connectivity. A method includes detecting that the second respective backhaul connection of the second access node is threshold heavily loaded. And the method includes, based at least in part on the detecting that the second respective backhaul connection of the second access node is threshold heavily loaded, causing the first access node to suppress an extent of carrier-aggregation service that the first access node will provide to any standalone-connected UEs, to help free up capacity for dual-connectivity service.

A method and system for controlling air-interface resource utilization in a wireless communication system in which an access node provides service on a carrier defining air-interface resources. An example method includes monitoring a rate of voice muting on the carrier, detecting when the monitored rate of voice muting on the carrier is at least predefined threshold high, and responsive to detecting that the monitored rate of voice muting on the carrier is at least predefined threshold high, starting to apply a maximum limit on how many user equipment devices (UEs) the access node will concurrently serve with a resource-intensive service on the carrier.

A mechanism to control transmission by a base station, which may help to control interference on an adjacent frequency. The base station is configured to operate on a first frequency and is equipped with a number of antennas enabled for transmission on the first frequency. Upon detecting of a trigger for reducing potential interference on the adjacent frequency, the base station reduces the number of its antennas that are enabled for transmission on the first carrier, which may reduce the overall energy of the base station's transmission and may thereby reduce interference on the adjacent frequency. In an example implementation, the base station could disable a proper subset of its antennas from use for transmission on the first frequency, while leaving a remainder of its antennas enabled for transmission on the first frequency.

Method and system for controlling interference by dynamically adjusting quantity of antennas

A Fifth Generation New Radio (5GNR) network serves User Equipment (UE) with low-latency Quality-of-Service (QoS). A source 5GNR node receives signaling from the UE and transfers the signaling to a network controller. The network controller processes the signaling to determine a low-latency QoS. A network gateway receives user data and transfers the user data to the source 5GNR node. The source 5GNR node wirelessly transfers the user data to the UE. Responsive to the low-latency QoS, the source 5GNR node transfers multicast signaling to the network controller when received signal strength at the UE reaches a multicast trigger. The network controller transfers multicast signaling to the network gateway. The network gateway multicasts the user data to the source 5GNR node and to neighbor 5GNR nodes.

A method is provided for dynamically modifying a buffer in a network deploying multiple carriers, wherein multiple wireless devices communicate over the network. The wireless devices run applications, each application belonging to an application category. The method includes identifying the application category for a selected wireless device communicating over the network, wherein a first application category requires at least one of high throughput and low latency. The method additionally includes reducing a size of the buffer when the application category is the first application category, thereby initiating carrier aggregation for the selected wireless device.

A system for dynamically modifying a buffer in a network deploying multiple carriers is provided. Each carrier operating over the network utilizes a radio access technology (RAT). The system includes a network load monitoring processor that measures a network load on carriers using a first RAT to produce a measured value and a buffer management processor that receives the measured value, performs a comparison of the measured value with a predetermined value, and dynamically modifies a size of the buffer when the measured value exceeds the predetermined value.

Methods are provided for dynamically modifying an SSB beam configuration. SINR and/or other network efficiency parameters are monitored at a cell site. It is determined that the SINR or other network efficiency parameter is lower than a threshold value. The current SSB beam configuration of the cell site is compared with other potential SSB beam configurations. Based on the comparing, an SSB beam configuration is compared with an optimal side lobe antenna gain and back lobe antenna gain to avoid interference with adjacent cell sites. In response to the identifying, the SSB beam configuration at the cell site is dynamically modified.
