The system includes a digital system architecture including digital chromaticity control. Such control may include color balance, luminance, and color compensation and/or harmonization of multiple integrated modules of display or illuminated panels. Embodiments include a system topology with an integrated modular design for multiple display or illuminated control panels, which can reduce the system weight, wiring complexity, and development expense. In embodiments, a digital chromaticity control includes in-module and cross-module control for balance and harmonization of multiple panels and modules, incorporating integrated digital signal processors and digital communications for internal and external networking.

A housing assembly for electrical components includes a plurality of tubular housing sections which are fixedly interconnected. Portions of the housing sections are then removed to form openings in the housing assembly. The openings formed in the housing assembly may be formed in either interior or exterior walls of the housing assembly. Each of the tubular housing sections forms a compartment in which an electrical component may be mounted. By removing portions of a plurality of the interior walls of the housing assembly, a chamber which extends across end portions of a plurality of the compartments is formed. Front and rear end plates may be connected with the housing assembly. In addition, covers may be provided for openings formed in the exterior of the housing assembly.

Housing assembly for circuit components

A pushbutton of a switch assembly has an improved display system which includes a housing formed of an electrically insulating polymeric material. A solid-state display system is disposed within the housing. The solid-state display system includes an array of light emitting diodes mounted on a circuit board. The circuit board is disposed on a metal heat sink. The heat sink positions the circuit board relative to the display housing and receives heat from the light emitting diodes. In addition, the heat sink forms a portion of a circuit which conducts electrical energy to energize the light emitting diodes.

Display system

An improved display system includes a selectively energizeable light source which is disposed within a housing. A panel, formed of transparent material, is connected with the housing and has an outer side surface which is exposed to ambient light and an inner side surface which is exposed to light from the light source when the light source is energized. Indicia is disposed between the light source and the panel. The indicia is observable through the panel when the light source is energized and is obscured when the light source is de-energized. An array of pyramidal projections are disposed on the outer side of the panel. The array of pyramidal projections extend across the indicia so that light from the light source passes through the pyramidal projections to enable the indicia to be observed when the light source is energized. The panel is formed of a polymer. The surfaces of the pyramidal projections are repaired by a thin film of a monomer of the same composition as the polymer forming the panel.

An annunciator panel for aircraft has a plurality of pockets defining individual illuminated indicator devices. A lens assembly comprising a plastic lens and glass filters bonded together is encompassed by an elastically stretched rubber sleeve having an integral flange compressed between the lens body and panel housing, providing a light, fluid and particulate seal between lens and housing as well as a vibration and shock buffer to the lens and filters. The resiliency of the rubber sleeve accommodates different thermal expansion between dissimilar materials without imparting damage stresses to the lens assembly.

Lens mounting and seal for illuminated apparatus

A rubber ring disposed snugly over the glass envelope of a lamp and slid against a larger cylindrical lamp body centers and spaces the lamp within a reflector hole by positioning the ring within a counterbore recess in a back surface of the reflector concentric with the hole. The height of the ring is greater than the depth of the counterbore recess to space the lamp body away from the back surface of the reflector. A rubber strip is disposed between the opposite end of the lamp body and a housing member, the strip and ring being compressed in assembly to resiliently support the lamp, absorbing vibration and shock forces imparted to the lamp through the housing.
