In one embodiment, a multi-transceiver RF signal processing system comprises: a controller; a DPD core and CFR engine; and a plurality of transceiver paths comprising at least a first transceiver path for a first frequency block, and a second transceiver path for a second frequency block. The first frequency block is adjacent to the second frequency block. Signal processing outputs a stream of digital RF based on wireless RF signals received into the first and second transceiver paths. Signal processing inputs a first stream of digital RF and outputs a first digital RF signal corresponding to the first frequency block to the first transceiver path, and outputs a second digital RF signal corresponding to the second frequency block to the second transceiver path for wireless transmission via the at least one antenna. The DPD core applies a distortion that covers the first and second frequency blocks.

Systems and methods for multi-transceiver radio frequency signal processing systems

One embodiment is directed to a system to provide wireless coverage for a plurality of cells. The system comprises a virtualized headend and a plurality of remote units. The system is configured to operate as a distributed antenna system (DAS) when serving at least one of the cells. The plurality of remote units is configured to communicate with the virtualized headend using a switched Ethernet network. The virtualized headend is configured to communicate downlink user-plane data including frequency-domain IQ data and downlink control-plane data for a first cell served by at least one open radio access network (O-RAN) distributed unit (DU) to at least some of the remote units used to serve the first cell. At least some physical layer baseband processing for a wireless interface used to serve the first cell is performed by the virtualized headend or the remote units used to serve the first cell.

Open radio access network with unified remote units supporting multiple functional splits, multiple wireless interface protocols, multiple generations of radio access technology, and multiple radio frequency bands

A telecommunications system including a processor and a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a signal distribution engine is provided. The signal distribution engine is executable by the processor device to detect incoming signals received by a DAS that includes a headend unit coupled to RAU(s) using a communication cables or optical fiber; determine information about the detected signals; assign specified signals received by the DAS to a specified RAU in response to a user input via a signal distribution graphical user interface, which includes representations of and associations between the specified signals, headend unit, and RAU(s), that manually associates the specified signals with the specified remote antenna unit; and in response to the user input, output instructions regarding how to route the specified signals from the headend unit to the specified remote antenna unit over a communication cable or optical fiber communicatively coupled to the specified remote antenna unit.

Signal distribution interface

One embodiment is directed to an open radio access network to provide wireless coverage for a plurality of cells at a site and that comprises a virtualized headend comprising one or more base-station nodes and a plurality of unified remote units deployed at the site. Each of the unified remote units is able to support multiple functional splits, multiple wireless interface protocols, multiple generations of radio access technology, and multiple frequency bands. The unified remote units and functional split used to serve each cell can be changed (for example, on-the-fly as a part of an automatic or manual adaptation process that is a function of one or more monitored performance attributes of the open radio access network such as network bandwidth, network latency, processing load, or processing performance). The unified remote units can be implemented in a modular manner with a backplane to which different radio modules can be coupled.

Systems and methods for optimized telecommunications distribution are provided. For example, a distributed antenna system can include a master unit for transceiving signals with remote units operable for wirelessly transceiving signals with mobile devices in a coverage area. A self-optimized network analyzer can be in a unit of the distributed antenna system. A self-optimized network controller in the distributed antenna system can output commands for changing operation of a component in the distributed antenna system in response to analysis results from the self-optimized network analyzer. In some aspects, the master unit includes base transceiver station cards for receiving call information in network protocol data from a network and for generating digital signals including the call information from the network protocol data for distribution to the remote units.

Optimized telecommunications distribution system

The present disclosure describes devices, systems, and methods for synchronizing multiple-input/multiple-output ('MIMO') signals or other signals in telecommunication systems. Some aspects may involve transmitting signals between a head-end unit and remote units of a telecommunication system. A first delay of a signal path between the head-end unit and a first remote unit of the remote units may be determined to be greater than each delay of signal paths between the head-end unit and other remote units. Based on the first delay, the telecommunication system may be configured to delay transmission of additional signals such that the additional signals are simultaneously transmitted to another unit by either the head-end unit or the remote units.

Synchronizing multiple-input/multiple-output signals in distributed antenna systems

A service-area repeater for deployment in a service area to provide capacity supplied by a base station located remotely from the service-area repeater includes downlink circuitry to receive, via a donor antenna coupled to the service-area repeater, transformed RF downlink signals transmitted from the base station or a base-station repeater, the base station transforming original RF downlink signals or the base-station repeater transforming original RF downlink signals received from the base station to produce the transformed RF downlink signals. The downlink circuitry includes a signal transformation circuit to de-transform the received transformed RF downlink signals to generate non-transformed downlink signals and a frequency correction circuit to apply a frequency correction to the downlink signals to produce corrected downlink signals. The downlink circuitry wirelessly transmits the corrected downlink signals via a coverage antenna to user equipment in the service area.

Repeater system using umbrella base station

One embodiment is directed to a repeater system for use with a Fifth Generation (5G) New Radio (NR) base station. The repeater system includes repeater circuitry configured to switch between a downlink mode and an uplink mode. The repeater circuitry is configured to determine basic time-division duplexing (TDD) parameters for a 5G NR cell served by the 5G NR base station. The repeater circuitry is configured to determine timing of 5G NR time-division duplexing of the 5G NR cell based at least in part on correlating a waveform of a downlink signal with one or more of: a 5G NR Primary Synchronization Signal expected to be in the downlink signal as indicated by at least some of the basic TDD parameters and a 5G NR Secondary Synchronization Signal expected to be in the downlink signal as indicated by at least some of the basic TDD parameters.

Repeater system for use with 5G new radio base station that uses time-division duplexing

One embodiment is directed a powered device that comprises a connector to connect a multi-conductor cable to the powered device and device circuits partitioned into a first partition and a second partition. The powered device is configured to receive power from a first cable circuit and a second cable circuit provided over the multi-conductor cable. The powered device is configured to separately power the first partition using power received from the first cable circuit and power the second partition using power received from the second cable circuit and to power isolate the first cable circuit from the second cable circuit. The powered device further comprises at least one isolation device coupled to the first partition and the second partition and configured to enable information to be communicated between the first partition and the second partition. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Isolation in power-over-ethernet powered devices

In one example, an integrated relay distributed antenna system includes a relay node communicatively coupled to a base station and a master unit communicatively coupled to the relay node. The relay node is configured to communicate with the base station via a backhaul interface. The master unit is configured to communicate with the relay via an access interface, and the master unit and the relay node are configured to communicate demodulated and decoded data and/or demodulated data with each other. The integrated relay distributed antenna system further includes one or more remote antenna units communicatively coupled to the master unit and located remote from the master unit, wherein the one or more remote antenna units are configured to provide radio frequency signals to a coverage zone via one or more antennas.

Integrated relay distributed antenna system

One embodiment is directed to an uplink signal combiner that is configured to receive, via the data network, data packets from the remote antenna units. Each of the data packets includes respective control data and respective user data. The respective control data include data for managing a communication link between a baseband unit and a respective remote antenna unit. The respective user data represents a respective uplink signal received by each of the remote antenna units from one or more mobile stations. The uplink signal combiner is configured to generate additional user data representing a first combined uplink signal by combining the user data extracted from the data packets. The uplink signal combiner is configured to transmit an additional data packet to the baseband unit. The additional data packet includes the additional user data and additional control data derived from the control data from the received data packets.

Uplink signal combiners for mobile radio signal distribution systems using ethernet data networks

A user interface for a distributed antenna system (DAS) is provided. When executed by a processor, a signal distribution engine receives information about signals transported by the DAS and components of the DAS. The signal engine generates a signal set assignment user interface including a list of signals transported by the DAS and a signal set formation area for receiving a signal set. The signal engine also generates a signal distribution user interface that includes representations of signal sets, hardware components, and associations between hardware components. In response to receiving a request to associate the signal set with a specified hardware component, a command is output to configure a signal path so that signals in the signal set are provided to the specified hardware component.

A head end unit of a distributed antenna system includes circuitry configured to: receive downlink signals from at least one base station; process the downlink signals into downlink channelized digital baseband signals at the head end unit by at least one of mixing, decimating, and filtering the downlink channelized digital baseband signals including call information for wireless communication; format the downlink channelized digital baseband signals for transport together; packetize and packet schedule the downlink channelized digital baseband signals into downlink packetized baseband signals at the head end unit; and transmit the downlink packetized baseband signals from the head end unit to remotely located units of the distributed antenna system.

Digital baseband transport in telecommunications distribution systems

In an example, a distributed relay includes a relay node master unit communicatively coupled to a base station; and one or more remote relay antenna units located remotely from the relay node master unit and communicatively coupled to the relay node master unit. The relay node master unit is configured to communicate demodulated and decoded data and/or demodulated data with the one or more remote relay antenna units via one or more transport interfaces, and the one or more remote relay antenna units are configured to communicate radio frequency signals to a coverage zone via one or more antennas. The relay node master unit includes a backhaul interface and an access interface. The backhaul interface is configured to implement communications between the relay node master unit and the base station. The access interface is configured to implement communications between the one or more remote relay antenna units and user equipment.

Distributed relay node

A configurable wide area distributed antenna system is provided. At least one remote master unit of the system is in communication with at least one base station. The remote master unit includes a remote switch function that provides at least multiplexing in a downlink direction, demultiplexing in an uplink direction and routing of digital samples. The local master unit is located remote from the remote master unit. The local master unit is in communication with at least one remote antenna unit used to provide communication coverage in a select coverage area. The local master unit includes a local switch function providing at least demultiplexing in a downlink direction, multiplexing in an uplink direction and routing of digital samples. At least one communication link communicatively couples the remote master unit to the local communication unit with transport media interfaces.
