The present invention is in the field of digital imaging. It relates to a method for determining the coordinates of a subject of interest in a digital image, so as to be able to then display this subject of interest on the screen of a terminal with low display capacity. The present invention enables, from the screen of a terminal with sufficient display capacity, at least one subject of interest in an original still digital image to be selected, and the coordinates of said subject of interest to be determined. The application of the present invention consists in preparing the display operation of subjects of interest of digital images on the screens of terminals with low display capacity.

Method for selecting and displaying a subject or interest in a still digital image

The present invention is in the technical field of analyzing and processing digitized color images. More specifically it relates to a method of determining the chromaticity of an illuminant (white reference) of a color image representing a natural scene of objects or entities. The present invention uses the principle of the constancy of dichromatic color, but it also uses spatial color segmentation of the image and relevant filtering to select the regions of the image to be analyzed, that is to extract the analyzed regions non-compliant with the chromatic model. The invention is applicable for improving the performance of the means of analysis and recognition of the shapes of objects in an image.

Determination of an illuminant of digital color image by segmentation and filtering

The present invention is in the field of digital imaging. It relates to a method and a system for selecting a subject of interest in a digital image, so as to be able to then display this subject of interest on the screen of a terminal with low display capacity. The present invention enables the display directly and automatically on the screen of a terminal with low display capacity, of subjects of interest, previously selected in an original image. This is done based on a simple operation or request executed from the terminal with low display capacity. This enables the image to be exploited correctly, by viewing the subjects of interest of the original image, in the best possible conditions of image rendering, given the display capacity of said terminal. The application of the present invention is in the area of the users of terminals with low display capacity.

Method and system for optimizing the display of a subject of interest in a digital image

The invention relates to a process of identification of sky in a digital image made up of a set of points that can be located in the plane of the image. Each point of an image being associated with a color and a brightness. According to the invention process the image is filtered and the filtered image is then segmented into several portions. A mosaic image is then produced for which a color is associated with each portion. Portions having at least one point on the image edges are then selected and identified as sky. The portions have colors varying within a color range containing at least blue colors.

Process of identifying the sky in an image and an image obtained using this process

The invention relates to a process of shadow identification in a digital image. The digital image comprises a set of image points that can be located in a plane of the image, with each image point being associated with a color and brightness. The color is defined by chromatic components that can be located in the color space of an acquisition system, and the brightness is determinable from the chromatic components. According to the process of the present invention, for each image point, the brightness is determined; color standardization is carried out, leading to standardized chromatic components r, g, b; a chromatic brightness is determined from the standardized chromatic components r, g, b; and the chromatic brightness is compared with the brightness, to identify the presence of a shadow on the relevant image point.
