Systems and methods are described for noninvasively assessing an intracranial pressure of a patient. Some embodiments include providing a simulation model with a measured arterial blood pressure of the patient. Some embodiments further include providing the simulation model with a measured cerebral blood flow velocity of the patient. The simulation model correlates arterial blood pressure values, cerebral blood flow velocity values, and intracranial pressure values. Some embodiments further includes determining an intracranial pressure of the patient based on the simulation model. Some embodiments further includes creating an output data set indicative of the determined intracranial pressure.

Data mining system for noninvasive intracranial pressure assessment

Some embodiments provide a system and method for automatedly aggregating medically related data and disseminating different sets of the aggregated data to two or more different members of a medical care provider. Some embodiments automatedly and intelligently disseminate the aggregated data such that the data that is written once to the data storage solution is usable for a multitude of purposes within the functions of the medical care provider. Some embodiments intelligently disseminate the aggregated data by disseminating only relevant sub-components of the data to different members of the medical care provider based on the needs of the members such that different members receive different subsets of the data.

The method provides multiple controls for performing multiple functions. The method provides an audio interface for controlling at least one of the controls through audio commands.

A system and a method for computerized automated acquisition of the Glasgow Coma Score (GCS) for quantifying level of consciousness following traumatic brain injury performs the assessment of the GCS of critically ill patients on a periodic basis. Based on measurement of stimulus-induced standard physiological and verbal responses of the patient such as EMG, EOG and simple utterances, the system produces a coma score, which corresponds one-to-one with the score obtained by human assessors. The apparatus used for automated assessment of a degree of consciousness in a patient comprises a computer having a program stored therein to assess consciousness of the patient, at least one electrode coupled to the computer for sensing a physical response, a speaker coupled to the computer for producing an audio signal, a microphone coupled to the computer configured to sense an audio response from the patient, and a pain stimulator coupled to the computer to generate a pain stimulus in the patient. The method used for automated assessment of a degree of consciousness in a patient using a computer comprises the steps of sensing a response from the patient, recording the response in the computer, the response being characterizable in nature, analyzing the characterizable nature of the response to determine the nature in the computer, categorizing the nature of the response in the computer, and producing by the computer a stimulus dependent on the categorization of the response.

Method and apparatus for automated acquisition of the glasgow coma score (AGCS)

A system and method of Evoked Sodium Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ESMRI) for three-dimensional localization and measurement of sodium currents in the brain during neuronal activity is disclosed. The system measures neuronal activity in response to a stimulus. The sodium MRI measures changes in the sodium concentration due to the influx of sodium into neurons during the generation of synaptic and action potentials. The system measures primarily extracellular sodium which is distinguished from intracellular sodium on the basis of different spin-spin relaxation rates (T2) for these two compartments. Repeated measurements of sodium concentrations are used to produce and display the changes in concentration cinematically. The technique of the present invention is noninvasive and produces three-dimensional brain images with sufficient spatial and temporal resolution to allow three-dimensional visualization of the sequence of neuronal activation in the brain during processing of sensory, motor, cognitive and other tasks.

Evoked 23NA MR imaging of sodium currents in the brain

A sequence processor for rapidly learning, recognizing and recalling temporal sequences. The processor, called the Katamic system, is a biologically inspired artificial neural network based on a model of the functions of the cerebellum in the brain. The Katamic system utilizes three basic types of neuron-like elements with different functional characteristics called predictrons, recognitrons and bi-stable switches. The Katamic System is clock operated, processing input sequences pattern by pattern to produce an output pattern which is a prediction of the next pattern in the input sequence. The Katamic System learns rapidly, has a large memory capacity, exhibits sequence completion and sequence recognition capability, and is fault and noise tolerant. The system's modular construction permits straightforward scaleability.
