A method of operating a wireless communications network is adapted to provide services to users exploiting a first and a second different radio communications technologies, for example, an enhanced general packet radio service network. The method includes: providing, in a user profile available at the network, a subscription indication adapted to indicate that the user has subscribed for being provisioned with the network services through the first radio communication technology, upon reception by the network of a capability indication from the user adapted to indicate to the network that the user supports the first radio communications technology, looking up the user profile for the presence of the subscription indication; and in case the subscription indication is not found, handling the user as if supporting the second radio communications technology but not the first radio communications technology.

A station for processing a first signal which can be generated by a mobile terminal and belongs to a plurality of signals for mobile radio communications networks. The stations include an input able to receive from an antenna the first signal associated with a first band and at least one adjacent signal of said plurality associated with a second band adjacent to that of the first signal; a processing stage for generating from the first digital signal at a first sampling frequency, this first digital signal including a useful spectral content of the first signal and an interfering spectral content associated with the adjacent signal; a digital filter for processing the first digital signal, attenuating the interfering spectral content, and for providing a filtered digital signal including at least part of the useful special content sampled at a second sampling frequency less than the first sampling frequency and an electro-optical converter for generating from the filtered digital signal electromagnetic radiation to be transmitted on a waveguide.

A system and related device emulates the behavior of mobile networks independently from the manner of collecting data about the behavior of the network obtained through a simulation of field measurements. The system emulates the behavior of the network during the exchange of information between terminals and uses an emulation device comprising two circuit blocks. The first is able to process the information according to time sequences corresponding to those of mobile networks. The second one exchanges information between the terminals connected to suitable interfaces. This architecture makes it possible to emulate uplink and downlink functions of the mobile network, displaying on the terminals the effects of the behavior of the network under various operating conditions.
