Elevator access systems having an access control module operably connected to an elevator system and an access device located within the access control module and removable therefrom, wherein when the access device is within the access control module a normal mode of operation of the elevator system is activated and when the access device is removed from the access control module, the elevator system enters a safety mode of operation.

Elevator access systems for elevators

Elevator access systems and methods including a key extension having a first portion arranged to engage with a key and a second portion and an access mechanism. The access mechanism includes an extension engagement element arranged to receive and fixedly engage with the second portion of the key extension and an opening element operably connected to the extension engagement element such that operation of the extension engagement element causes operation of the opening element.

Elevator landing door lock assemblies and elevator landing doors having a lock with a keyway accessible from a landing of an elevator system, the lock operable to lock and unlock a landing door and a disengageable link operably connected to the lock and configured to prevent unlocking of the landing door when the disengageable link is not engaged. When an elevator car is aligned with the landing door, the disengageble link is engaged and completed such that the lock is operable to unlock and open the landing door, and, when an elevator car is not aligned with the landing door, the lock is not operable.

Elevator landing door unlocking system

An exemplary device for protecting an elevator travelling cable connected to an elevator car comprises a deflector that is configured to be secured to one of an elevator car or the travelling cable. The deflector allows the travelling cable to extend below an associated elevator car a first distance from a bottom of the elevator car when the elevator car is at least a selected height above a bottom of a hoistway. The first distance is at least equal to a natural dynamic bending radius of the travelling cable. The deflector facilitates the travelling cable extending below the bottom of the elevator car a second distance that is less than the natural dynamic bending radius when the elevator car is below the selected height.
